  • Nukes suck in this game

Can anyone tell me what the advantages of using nukes are or what situation they're best in?

They really got nerfed this time around. I miss my Civ III nukes!!

    1. They don't destroy all the towns' units. They just damage them. That sucks!

    2. All nukes do is reduce population and destroy a few buildings.

    3. Bomb shelters -75% damage. Are you serious? In real life bomb shelters do squat.

    4. SDI -75% of nukes even hitting!

Plus you get a lot of bad diplomacy points. I haven't had all civ's declare war on me like previous games but still...what's the benefit of using nukes?

    P.S. A longbowman destroyed a Modern Armor, I thought this wouldn't happen.

Well, technically speaking if you put an arrow down the barrel of a tank gun (not an impossible mission) the gun would most likely be destroyed.

On the other hand, I quite agree - one in a million chance that will actually happen.

Actually, the gun would most likely not be affected one little bit.

Wait.. let me guess. You sent a very badly damaged Modern armor against a well fortified Longbowman ?

Well even if he did, come on, how are arrows going to destroy a tank?

probably it is assumed that in such situations that the longbowmen would have things like molotov cocktails and the like

Liao-Tzu rested against the side of his tank, and tore open a tin of beef. He sighed, and stared at the torn track which had disabled his Type 54 two days earlier.

After days of heavy fighting, his unit, though still functional, had ground to halt and taken heavy casualties. Now he, and his crew, were off watch and able to have a meal with what was left of the rations.

                    *thunk*

Liao-Tzu looked up, startled by the noise, and saw his gunner, Chaoh-Anh, slump foward, a wooden shaft embedded in his chest.

He swore, and got to his feet, yelling for the rest of his crew to get back inside.

                    *thunk* *thunk* *thunk*.

You can stack nuke attacks onto a single city for a great suprise.

I think Nukes are overpowered. Moreso than anything else in the game. There is no MAD, and global warming hurts your opponents just as much as it hurts you.
