    I had the same issue.

    Have a Geforce 4 MX 440 w/ AGP8X.

I uninstalled the windows automatic update driver they had and went to Nvidias website and used the latest one.

    Fixed almost all graphics issues.

However, I can still see flood plains area through the fog of war. I see the green terrain you would see along the river.

I decided to try the 77.58 beta drivers today, and found out that it fixes most of the "black map" problems. I never had Chesire cat problems with the 440Go (64MB). However, the game is not very stable with 77.58-- it crashes every few turns. With the non-beta drivers, the game can barely be played (without revealing all of the map via WorldBuilder) but I didn't experience as many crashes. (But maybe that's just my luck.) I have all of my detail levels turn to minimum and I don't use animations.

This is the first time I heard of the "Bread Only" bug... but I think there's definitely something there being that multiple people are seeing it. (Either that, or I have the bug but don't even realize it! I don't do much messing around on the close up city screens, yet.)

I've also experienced (and will confirm) AoA's audio stuttering problems. But in agreement with AoA, the audio seems such a small issue with the more serious graphical issues discussed here.

      Cheers!

I can live with false terrain colours and chesire cats, but the bread only city screen makes the game unplayable because of impossible city management (with the new terrain improvements, resources and modificators like civics and certain techs its simply impossible to optimise the production/food excess of a city

In civ3 you only had 2 terrain improvements and some food bonuses, but here the number of possible combinations simply explodes - not to forget the specialists who have civic/wonder/tech specific output- this makes MM the City equally if not more important than in previous games (I played some games now on a PC where its working properly, and the city manager is as awful as ever, and with the new health/specialist/happiness system you have to think a lot when MM the city, and you have to do it every time a new unit/building is there and with every tech/terrain improvement that shows up
It doesn't bother me, because I don't really fiddle with where to put the workers that much anymore. The governor options are very detailed and work well for me. I really don't care I can't see anything but the bread. Don't get me wrong, I would like it fixed, but it's not a priority.

I have noticed this also, it makes it difficult to tell what is worth what in the city screen mode.

I also cannot read the bread amounts correctly. Maybe it's just me, but I will see 1 bread of grassland, but 2 in a plains square????

You know when you use your settler, I also only see bread amounts on the map.

Of course when I scroll over the land it tells me, but still this is annoying. I was unaware that was a bug.

I have a desktop (NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440), but I downloaded the laptop drivers and it fixed the All Black problem.

I still have the All Bread problem though. I'll never eat bread again!!!

Oh, and I bought a 128 MB video card on ebay for under $15 (including shipping). So those of you with desktops might want to look on there.

I'm getting a 512MB Nvidia card from work. That should hopefully fix many, many things.

We run high end modeling graphics and are updating our cards.

Are the bread value right? That's my question, cause like I said I will see 1 bread on grass land (worth 2 bread) and then 2 bread on plains (which should be only 1 bread)
