(on an IBM Thinkpad T41p. The game's a bit sluggish, so I switched to low resolution and minimal details and it's playable.)

      finally i got it.

Work fine on my laptop but i need to set the graphics to low, and the other two at medium, and it works fine.

      video card:Intel GMA 915 with Pentium M 1.5ghz(= Pentium 4 2.1ghz),512 Ram, winxp home.

But my ati radeon 64 meg(with t&l), Athlon 1.1, 768, win xp pro, with all the uptodate drivers doesn't work good. My screen in the game is bright, clear, and mixed up....

      So, that's it.

Dont have the time to play an entire game... I work today.

        ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 32mb.
        1.7GHz Pentium M.
        1gb RAM.

It runs fine and playable but a bit sluggish. I'm at minimum resolution with all the details turned off. I didn't need to download any drivers. I just used the driver supplied by IBM, and then windowsupdate.com pushed some new drivers onto me, version 6.14.10.6546.

Figured I'd throw my experience in here.

          P4m (P4 w/ speed step) 2.2Ghz
          512 MB Ram
          GeForce4 4200 Go

Its sluggish (especially on Huge maps) but playable. I think more RAM would help with the large maps as I can tell its using some VM.

            LJW1004,
Did you have any problems when you went to the tutorial or civilopedia when you accessed the leaders?

I have an IBM Thinkpad T40
            ATI Mobility Radeon 9000
            1.6GHz Pentium M.
            512 Mb RAM

I can't start a game period because it gets to the
leader window and just hangs. Civilopedia
was fine except when accessing leaders. I have to do
a hard reboot to get out. I have downloaded
the PAK patch and installed it but nothing changed.
I'll check the ATI driver but I believe it was 6.14
something. I will also try to set everything at minimum
to see if I can get it to run.

The tutorial was more sluggish than the game, but I could play it through.

I've only just tried the civilopedia now in response to your message, and the various selections I've tried (leaders, units, wonders) all work okay.

Leaders? Like the trading screen? That has always been fine.

My drivers? Last week I reinstalled windows from scratch. I downloaded the ones from IBM. Then windowsupdate.com pushed some new ones onto me and I used them. Then Civ4 gave me DirectX and I used that.

Hey people... this week civ4 comes to Greece... (hopefully)

Since i have a laptop more as a desktop replacement rather than "mobile" computer, i would like to ask about the video card... My laptop (Acer 1673) has Ati Mobility 9700... do i need any special drivers, will it run properly ?

AMD delivers leadership high-performance and adaptive computing solutions to advance data center AI, AI PCs, intelligent edge devices, gaming, & beyond.

Should run the game just fine. You will probably need to perform the ATI workaround detailed on 2kgames's support page (and all over the forums).

Anyone out there got a Radeon 7500/7800 and tried it? My laptop has a mobility 7800. Haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

                          @ Periamato
I'm running the game on a mobility 9700 - full details, 1280x1024. I'm using the catalyst 5.08 drivers installed with dhmodtool (a fantastic program to install the newest drivers on your laptop if you don't have it)

I don't know if it will run with older drivers... the problem with laptop chipsets is that you can only install drivers from the laptop manufacturer... not ati. dhmodtool gets you around that problem, cause the laptop makers are always like 6 months behind on the updates.

yeah, yeah, my drivers are old... but i haven't had any of the ati glitches people are talking about, if it ain't broke...

Thanks very much... cause each time i try to download the new drivers... ATI always refuses and points out at the manufacturer direction...
