Acratin, according to your dxdiag report, your ATI drivers are old:

        "Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll
        Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6575 (English)"

They should be updated to version 8.18 (from 10/12).

Please make sure you have the latest drivers and try again.

        Thanks,

I'll try again, though those are the drivers downloaded from ATI today. Is there anything specific I should do to un-install the old ones?

Dammit...Mine says that driver version too. What the hell did I just download and install then?

I have a 9600, and have downloaded the latest drivers / catalyst from ATI's website, and I still have 6.14.0010.6575.

                Where did you find 8.18?

8.18 driver is a linux driver

It looks like the 8.18 driver is a linux driver and the 6.14 version is the latest on ATI's site.

Yes, I'm one of the ones following this issue and crossing my fingers for a solution.

                    From init.log

I enabled the logs from the civilizationIV.ini; I just pasted the only important info (none of the other logfiles give anything substantial).

I guess I *could* code something to get my hwnd, but I doubt that'd be the problem..

I assume everyone has this file ‘d3dx9_26.dll’ in your C:\windows\SYSTEM32 folder, right?
