Sullla (a beta tester) has a great walkthrough (first few turns with screenshots) at his site: http://www.kalikokottage.com/civ3/su...v4_walk_1.html

Cool - something to pass the time. Thanks for the heads-up!

Edit: interesting that your units don't start out stacked. And I'm glad that moving to a decent city location is more viable than in Civ3 where it was found city ASAP - pump settlers.

Superb...oh for Civ 4 to come along and brighten up this damp half-term, can't handle more drinking.

      Thanks for the walkthrough Sullllllla.

It looks like making things visible for scouting units are different according to the promotions. Note how the woodsman warrior could spot forests 2 tiles away, but not other tiles.

I should not have read that... I really should not
            have read that.

Cause now, the anticipation is killing me....
One more week... One more week.... Can't sleep,
clown will eat me, can't sleep, clown will eat me...

Isn't it funny how for months, I didn't give CIVIV
a second thought, but now that we're in the very
            final stretch, I'm burning up...

Especially with this walkthrough, it confirms my
speculation that I'm really, totally gonna LOVE
            this game.

I'm really loving this unit promotion stuff! While
before, a unit was mere cannon fodder in my stacks,
I'm now gonna care about each and every one of
them, howling in rage when my freshly promoted
warrior gets reduced to half by a lion...

Now where are my pills ?

There's a gameshop that shows the game for sale coming friday (in Belgium). Didn't you know?

Another indicator that ICS is not going to be the gold strategy it was in Civ3.

                  I'm aware

I went to gamemania myself saturday, and they
confirmed it was till listed for friday, but I'm
skeptical, considering Nov 4th is the more official
date... I'd love for it to be in my grubby paws
                  Friday, considering it's a 4-day weekend, but
I'm not getting my hopes up.

Anyone know what these different map scripts are supposed to do? Will 'great plains' maps have oceans at all, for example?

Is it my wishful thinking or does it look on that one screenshot like Civ IV has windowed mode?

Sulla wrote (in his walkthrough): "For now, I fortify the new warrior in Mecca and start putting some shields into a barracks."

gotta love it- hammers just isn't in our lexicon yet.
