I haven't seen much mentioned about espionage...I'm wondering what sorts of options we'll have in this regard, as compared to Civ3.

My understanding is that we're moving back towards the Civ2-style, where there is an actual spy unit that you move around and do missions with.
However, I'd have to ask the folks who have already played the game to be sure."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

I missed the Civ 2 spy. However, irc, everyone could spot them on the map. That sucked: they should be invisible to other nations, unless they invest in some tech, or have some sort of counter-spy.Let us be lazy in everything, except in loving and drinking, except in being lazy – Lessing

So, come on Mark, can you spill the beans? What are the abilities of spy units? Are they invisble, can they destroy city improvements, (we know they can destroy tile improvements), can they stir things up in the city (cause unhappiness/sickness), can they kill great people? This is the kind of stuff I am DYING to hear about !

Yep. And BTW, SMAC's AI was quite capable in using spies ('probe teams')."As far as general advice on mod-making: Go slow as far as adding new things to the game until you have the basic game all smoothed out ... Make sure the things you change are really imbalances and not just something that doesn't fit with your particular style of play." - WesW
