If Quicktime fails me, sometimes I try to open the .mov file in an internet browser - use its browser plugin instead.

Try mplayer ( a command-line player ) , found here . You'll have to download a codecs package for it ( get the windows_all one , if you're running Windows ) , but I found it's worth it - it can play almost everything you can throw at it .

BTW, I'm not really excited by the movie I have seen: it seems a bit too fast, an accelerated thing that can't inspire epic at all.

Probably I need to see it in game to give it a fair rate.
