wonder movie: hanging gardens

but how many CDs/DVDs will this game be using? if each wonder movie is 20-25MB large?

i wonder if they actually wrote some kind of construction plugin for 3Dstudio or whatever they use. otherwise it would take aaaages to create all that scaffolding, build the layers, destroy it, etc.

but anyhow, even as a player who does not expect a great game like civ to have too much animation, all i can say is

Very nice! While it's easy to say "I'm all about gameplay," atmopshere also plays a big role in these games when done well. I think these movies will add a great deal to the atmosphere.

try quicktime alternative 1.62. you just download the codecs and don't need the crappy mac-based player:

realtime alternative also exists. allowing you to leave away that BS-RT-player too

however, i'm not sure if embedded videos will still work without the original players. my guess is yes, but no guarantee!

Coracle was right in many concerns, and very passionate about the game, but fairly repetitive and thus, tiresome and annoying. Nonetheless I bet he would like a good part of Civ4.

I think the theme of the game that I've seen so far is great. I'm listening to the "Babayetu" mp3 right now (It seems to grow on you the more you listen to it. Found it a month ago. Tried finding a link to it to add to this post to no avail.). Kind of reminds me of The Lion King. I guess it's the song that plays in the opening cinematic.

I'm wondering if all the Wonder movies have the same style as this hanging gardens one, where it starts with the blue-prints and builds up. The Civanon video starts with a vid of the pyramids which is in the same style. Personally I would have preferred real life footage and voiceovers, but hey, if it fits in with the over-all theme then I'm all game for it.

SMAC had great atmosphere which was one of the things that made it a great game. It looks like Civ IV is following suit with a whole new History-Channel/Builder type theme.
