Somehow I prefer to play with (and against) the most ancient civs available, with on top those civs subdued by European colonisation.

    But the first few:
    • India to check out the worker unit and possibility to found 2-3 religions in the early game
    • Mali and Incans for their novellity, although I won't Mali's FM eagerness much.

I'm looking forward to playing Louis XIV (Creative/Organized) and Frederick the Great (Creative/Philosophical), since both look like great set-ups for a culture-monger.

I agree, playing with/against the ancient civs have always been the most fun. Though russians hold a place in my heart as opposition since they were so damn aggressive in Civ 1.

Oh hell, who knows, I would have to examine the combination of traits. I always liked industrial in civ3 because it meant I could create terrain improvements very quickly and get cities up and running fast. Religion was also very handy for the short anarchy. So perhaps my preferred combination of traits will be very similar. This is why I often played at the Egyptians...

Same here, I nearly always played as the Egyptians.

I will play all the civs that aren't Spain or Russia/Catherine, because the leaderheads for those two are so hot (in the game) and I'll want to play against them all the time.

BTW, happy birthday Gandhi (October 2nd)...

You forgot to mention "with" somewhere in that sentence for them...

I don't know, gotta see these things in action, but aggressive will be in there for sure at the beginning. Count on that.

Napolean has an early edge among the aggressive leaders it would seem, +50% wonder production just sounds absolutely broken on paper, in terms of balance.

Later, I'll probably gravitate to warmongering with one of the non-aggressive leaders.

                              Sorry, what?

                              1. Leaders have traits outside of Philosophical/creative/organised etc?
                              2. Napoleon actually has +50% production for wonders?

Aggressive (Militaristic): Free promotion of melee and gunpowder units. Double production speed of barracks and dry dock.
Creative (Cultural): +2 culture per city. Double production speed of theater, coliseum.
Expansive (Agricultural): +2 health per city. Double production speed of granary and harbor.
Financial (Commercial): +1 gold on plots with 2 gold. Double production speed of bank.
Industrious: Wonder production increased 50 percent. Double production speed of forge.
Organized: Civic upkeep reduced 50 percent. Double production speed of lighthouse and courthouse.
Philosophical (Scientific):Birth rate of Great People increased 100 percent. Double production speed of university.
Spiritual (Religious): No anarchy. Double production speed of the temple.
Napolean is Aggressive/Industrious. Industrious gets +50% wonder production at last info I read. IMO, that sounds utterly broken on paper. Might not be in reality.
