Cyber, totally OT, but I've seen that you have used lots of that non-existing "8)" smilie lately. Why not use poly's ?

Mosttimes SP, probably a PBEM or two. And an odd chance to get involved in Pitboss to speed the early game up. Simply don't like to rush things in a world-spanning game.

I'm a generally single player or PBEM person myself, but I certainly did not appreciate the stunts that were pulled with Civ3 such as withholding multiplayer capability to an expansion pack, and then the implementation been quite shoddy.

I hope it's fourth time lucky

Ill wait and see how the game plays first. Related to what Oerdin said, something major needs to change from the way civ3 played to make me want to play traditional MP (or even SP) for long periods.

Also depends how fast and stable the game is online, seems to be a priority this time though.

If everythings there ill be playing all types of MP at some point, but mainly traditional MP.

A lot of the developer info and previews say that Multiplayer was built in since the start, so that it works well. This is also what the developers say for my other current favorite game, Supreme Ruler 2010 - and the multiplayer works pretty good in that, except that very few people actually bother to play MP anyways. SP seems to be the only popular way to play a game that takes so long to finish!

I dabbled with the Civ3 MP, and had a riot the few times I played. Not sure why I didn't invest more time. Hmm .. let me see .. demogames, 40+ pbems, the odd SP game .. oh yes, now I remember why.

But that being said, I would definitely give civ4 MP a go.

I'm definitely going to play CIV MP when the game comes out. Then I'll use my MP skillz to beat Deity...

the only PBEM I have enjoyed was the PtW democracy game

and I would have enjoyed it more if it was faster (I lost interest at times)

lan with my freinds (takeing a day.. and only getting part way through) was fun, for both Civ2 and Civ3 (and SMAC)

heck, I have already signed up all the Aussie Civfans to join in a Multiplayer game using PitBoss. I reckon it will be soooo cool. This will be the first time ever that I have played Civ as an MP game!

In my Civ world, SP is something you play to get better at MP otherwise I wouldn't care if the AI was even included in the game.
