Btw, Drakan, you don't expect me to repost all this in the sister thread on civfanatics, now do you?
All the amendments that fellow civers point out I automatically ammend them at CFC, Poly and Civspanish sites.

Ah, Martinus, are you really going to deprive me from the pleasure of discussing with you back at CFC ?

Martinus is right -gulp, I can't forgive myself for posting this- the cultural victory can be achieved through three cities now.

Do you seriously think it's possible to write a guide like this without ever having tried any of those unique units or FEELING how each trait affects the game?

Nope, but he has some theories. Everybody has, I guess. At this point, his guide is good enough... We can't play and see, but we can talk about.

You know that joke? Sex is the best thing in the world. The second one is talking about sex...

The Mali (Spi/Fin), I would think, would make for a good Spaceship victory civ. Spiritual means no anarchy, so easy shifting of civics, plus Temple discount to keep everyone happy, while Financial is extra commerce = extra science. Besides, the Mali Skirmisher replaces the Archer. If the Archer is a city defender, we can assume that a Skirimisher is a better city defender, which would put Mali in a good position to defend vs. early attacks.

BTW, it's interesting how both the Persian and Egyptian UUs replace the Chariot. Can't wait to see if either of these units is viable.

I will say it again: There are no city defender units since there is no separate attack and defense value. Thank you.

                    Ditto!

Its like the sex thing, might as well talk about it

Interesting mental exercise. Now we all need to play the game for a couple of months and see how close this is

This is a good thread, we get to guess on what's best, and then we can get back in a couple of months and laugh at ourselves all the way from here to another wonderful game of Civ4.

Tip for Yin: play the Romans in your first game! With their Creative and Expansive leader Julius Caesar, every city of yours, no matter how big or small, will get +2 health and culture. It's your best bet to prove ICS still works!

                              true

all this "what if" is just a sign that we're all fidgety to get and play the game at last
