Good question. Alexander looks terrible. How hard is it to get him right? They make him look 40, while one of the keys to his intrigue is that he was so young when he set out to conquer the world. And his hair should be long, curly and blond. Gaaaargh.

To all the nay-sayers out there:
At what time should a leader's image be taken from -- the height of their reign, the best looking, the most recognizable, or what??? Their reign within civ lasts 6000 years, after all.

There is plenty of lattitude there. Give the artists some artistic license, that's why they're artists. Guided by Sid, Jeff and Soren, I presume.

Also, in reality, Catherine the Great was a fat, ugly, smelly bee-yotch. Why is she so hott here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/....html?page=149 ?
Yeah, it's actually funny that most female leaders look so unrealistically hot whereas most male leaders look butt-ugly. I realise the game is addressed mostly to male players, but they should also throw something to an odd female or gay male player too.
The problem with leadership is inevitably: Who will play God?

It says "Anarchy" at top of the screen, maybe that's the cause.

Apologies if it's been answered before (how many posts are starting like that these days?), but this pic

seems to show that you can set the science/lux/tax individually for each city. Has this been confirmed?

                        that's a valid reason.
but settlers are still much more expensive than the military units of the time. maybe this city has some kind of army-bonus, but nonetheless...

yeah, it was mentioned somewhere that your cities specialise. you can have science cities, religious centres, etc.

but good that you noticed that! i had missed it. this is fortunate because it shows that micromanagement is still possible. i was worried that with all this automation and improved governors the very good players couldn't anymore make a big difference to the regular good players
