  • The Great Leader (Guess) List

Since Civ4 still far away (2 months?) and I'm bored, how about we talk about which great leaders (not the leader of the civs, but the tycoons, scientists, artists, etc.) should be in the game? I might be helpful if you tells us which one he/she is in.

Alexander Grahm Bell. Without him no Telephone, no internet.

                  Tesla inveted the radio

Forgot my Canadain history, but the person who invented the vaccine for polio, that could help city health.

What's his name who is a billionare in England who owns the soccer teams. What about Ted Turner for TV, wich could help entertainment.

Ford for cars, more production since you get your products to places faster.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, might have read your post wrong.

Arthur C Clarke, a true visionary. Came up with the idea of putting satellites in geostationary orbit. Thus making it possible to send TV and phone signals around the globe.

Edison is waay overated. DC power sucks. I prefer Tesla.

And Sherman. Isn't he a war criminal? Blame him for the total war strategy other people used in later wars (such as ww2)

IIRC some other guy from the other side of the US tried to patent the telephone the same day as Bell did, but he was a few hours late so he didn't get it

Without him, someone else almost certainly would have figured it out in plenty of time to provide the infrastructure for the Internet. I'm not trying to denigrate Bell's achievement, but it is a mistake to assume that just because a particular person invented something first, we would not have it without that person.
