  • How early is too early to start planning for a Civ4 demo game?

I think that about 2 weeks before the game should be on shelves would be a perfect time to start planning for a game.

Sure, noone will have played it yet and we'd all be pretty unprepared for what meets us, however....

i find demo-games kinda boring when everyone involved already knows the perfect tactics for every scenario. I think it'd be more fun to discover the game as we play it and make some of those fun mistakes.

Although I'd surely participate, I'd advise against it. I'm sure there would be a few game-breaking bugs, imbalances, and exploits that won't be fixed until the next couple of patches. Playing with that kind of game in a serious demo-game would not go well.

yeah, it woulda never worked in the case of say Civ3 cuz in the late game the air forces woulda been broken, not to mention other things.

Well heres to hoping civ 4 doesnt have bugs

Honestly tho, i'd be psyched if we could get a demo-game going on the original release, even if it was just a small group.

FWIU it might be possible to actually make a demogame mod (hacking multiplayer). That would be incredibly cool.

            it definately would be Kuci.

put in different coop spots for Foreign Minister, Minister of Defence, Minister of so on so on

and put in a spectator ability for anyone who didnt get elected

            would be real fun

I'd be in for an early DG. But, then I'm in for most civ DGing

Two weeks before would be a good idea: we'd know the civs and the leaders, we could write an early constitution, and we could decide on the general setup of the game.

And as soon as Civ4 ships, ROCK ON!

Hey, this is actually a good idea: a demo game where everyone is still discovering things about the game.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

I'd say this is way too early.

demo games actually can spoil you the real one, so let's wait until the very end
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

I'm thinking more of hacking the persistent PBEM mode to have in-game voting and maybe even a sort of forums.

                            You could even add a fleshed-out $minigame.

Actually, now that I think about it, if we were able to mod Civ IV to make it more demo-game friendly, then I'd play.
