How early is too early to start planning for a Civ4 demo game?
While I'm a diehard MP player at heart, we(the ladder) have taken part in the C3C ISDG and I did enjoy that aspect of a "slow" MP game.
I might suggest that you consider the Persistant Turn-Based Server, better known as "Pitboss" for a DG format.
A player with a permenant internet coonetion could be the host and then an team member with the pw could just login to look at the turn after the turn has been played, and no saves need be sent.
Just a thought to take advantage of a new feature of CIV.

Although I'd surely participate, I'd advise against it. I'm sure there would be a few game-breaking bugs, imbalances, and exploits that won't be fixed until the next couple of patches. Playing with that kind of game in a serious demo-game would not go well.
