  • I'd like to see bridges over the rivers.

In the shoots i cannot see them, if engineering is available, you are, in theory, able to build bridges, well, the new graphics are nice and fancy, but where are the bridges?
    Owww, I'm so cute! ^_^

Sounds cluttered. With the Civ3 road/rail system covering every square, the rivers would look like zippers!
    Haven't been here for ages....

Perhaps a bridge here and there would be fine, does not need to be one in every square a river is.

It would be nice eye candy for when zoomed in, but it probably won't happen, since roads are textures (2d images stretched over 3d coordinates) and would look odd at river crossings if model bridges were there.

Bridges should be 3d, like the rest of the structures.

            Some Questions:

Would Bridge Building be a tech that was required to learn how to build bridges?

Would Bridges just be a land improvement that could be built (just like mines, irrigation, etc.)?

Would Bridges simply appear as a civ expanded across a river?

1- If im not wrong, in all CIVs you requiered the Engineering technology for being able to build roads over rivers (aka, bridges). So, the answer is no.

2 - Dont think so, perhaps a road over a bridge should take a turn more, because is more complex to build than a normal road.

              3 - Wha?

I think it would be nice just to see them graphically, whether or not you actually had bridge building.

Even in modern times, the effectiveness of rivers as strategic points were still viable.

It would be nice to be able to bomb bridges just to slow down enemies.

You can. You bomb the roads.

OK. How about establishing "artificial" choke-points?

The AI sometimes ignores even the best laid traps.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)
                        2004 Presidential Candidate

you can do that with ZOC

this is an operational level representation of tactical efforts.

Yes, you are absolutely right - ZOC is good rule.
