Just checked for C3C, there was Vondrack, Dominae, Trip, Godking, MZ....lost count towards the end
Put another way, out of all of the teams in the PTWDG, (atleast) all but one of the poly teams had a member who beta tested C3C. That could easily translate to a similar amount betatesting CIV.You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Won't be spelled wrong this time around though, I'll make sure if that.

Originally posted by Locutus First of all, I don't really see fans completely rewriting the game -- that would take years (just look at the 'progress' CtP2 has made since the release of its source code).
Originally posted by Locutus Secondly, there have been fan-made Star Trek, Star Wars, Buffy, etc films, books, games and stuff like that for decades, yet that never kept the official sources from releasing new official materials as well.
Originally posted by Locutus Finally, as cool as the Civ4 graphics and network options look now, 4-5 years from now they will be painfully obsolete. The SDK will only contain the game rules, not the engine that makes these rules run.
Originally posted by Locutus If handled right (which still remains to be seen -- let's not get ahead of things), the SDK will be an extremely powerful tool for modding and scenario making, but probably not much more than that. And even if it is, that still won't stop Firaxis from releasing an 'official' sequel...I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

Or just look at Half-Life. Its SDK contained all the game code, except the engine. In the result, there were hundreds of fan-based mods, including Counter-Strike, and in the result, Half-Life still sells copies and is a tremedeous success. And, that SDK and those modding capabilities didn't prevent Valve from release Half-Life 2, which is, in turn, another great industry success.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator
