I was looking at the Genghis Khan map in order to see if it will be of any use to me. Does anyone know what the map dimensions are? I can't get the normal info from notepad.

grid width=84
grid height=52
Now, that's the actual height, not the "Standard" or "Large" names. The names are under:
world size=WORLDSIZE_LARGE
Not that they have to be related. You can change the worldsize with an editor if you so desire (although I have no idea why you'd want to).

I'm beginning to see why there aren't as many maps or mods for Civ IV as there were for Civ II. Yeah, it appears one gets a greater degree of ability to mod, but you're on your own when it comes to figuring out how to do it efficiently. Jeez. You'd think it'd be common sense to include a freaking visible coordinate system in WB!

Not to toot my own horn, but it's in WorldPainter.
And I'm working on the "painting" part. It's turning out to be harder than I thought at first.
And I've got a wedding this weekend to tape and edit, so that's gonna get in my way for a month or so.

What I hate is that you can't turn on the coorinate system in debug mode. It drives me nuts not being able to open a Warlords scenario save that I made in notepad. I just see a Ascii-code like jibberish.Flash

Scale
I was doing some figuring.
My map is:
7.50 * bigger than a standard size map.
4.92 * bigger than a Large map.
3.20 * bigger than a Huge map.
So question is, what type of units need their movement rates increased?
Infantry move 1 * 7 = 7?
or 1 * 3 = 3?Flash

When I was playing around with extra large maps in CivIII, I increased the movement on roads instead of increasing the movement for the landbased units itself. I used this as a basis for naval units as well (galley=road). On my map, the road move was 6. Can't remember what the modern sea units could travel, but something around 20 I guess. Planes also got an increased range (then I used the WW2 air battles between Germany and UK as guidance).
Can't really remember why I didn't increase movement for the units but think it was to encouage usage of naval transport instead and to avoid some unwanted effects. What you can do for this map, is to at least double road movement. Be careful with doubling movement for landbased units as units with Blitz will suddenly be able to attack a lot more than intended. You should also increase the road movement bonus when reaching engineering accordingly (e.g. increasing base road movement to 4 should give bonus +2)

Thanks Moonwolf,
I was thinking along those lines myself. I was pouring over the scenarios and the old Destiny manual. I think the increased road movement might be the key. The ocean movement will have to be unit increased.Flash

I just wanted let people know that a new beta map will be released soon. I have Europe, Asia and the Pacific left.
For this beta version, goody huts and resources are random.
Stage two will see the inclusion of barbarian tribes and more precise resource placement.Flash

Finally, Beta v0.02 is done. It does't have goodie huts or resources. The Cheat mode won't generate proper resources. so that will be the next step.
It have a lot of forests. (after all it is 4000 BC)
Please comment on how to redistribute forests.
Right now it is only for Vanilla Civ IV.Attached FilesFlash
