    Hello All.

    Unfortunately, the 200x100 map has been put on the back burner.

    So I have started a new project. So far I can load it in worldbuilder, but I do not know at this time how much I can do in it. So I am using the Civ4Editor program.

    I hope to add 18 civs. The map has plenty room. I would like to create a senario for the map. If the map works as planned, I hope to make a 364 x 182 map.

    the first preview.

    I finally have the map outlined.

    The fun of detailing terrain is next.

    Here is preview B:

      Update,

      I've been trying to figure out the best way to copy the terrain from the Africa and s. America maps. I'm going to try to attempt to open to worldbuilders. I bought a eGeforce 6500 256 MB vid card and 512 MB RAM. I had 1 GB RAM but it shared 128 MB with the old vid card. I hope this works.

      On another front. I have been experimenting with Sid Meier's Colonizations. I have been looking to the N. America map portion as a guide to filling in some types of terrain. i.e. Tundra line, plains, grassland, desert.

            Update,

            I'm about to release my beta version of the map.

            I'm asking for some opinions.

            I'm working on adding all the starting locations of all 18 civs (even though I don't like the Mali and I'm iffy on the Americans).

            I still need to add Mountains, trees and resources.

            I need to figure out where to place tribal villages. Also does anyone know what a minor tribe is?

              A question has come up regarding terrain verses height. I am hoping to get some suggestions. Here is the breakdown of topographical heights on my source maps:

              Sea Level;
              100 m. (328 ft.);
              200 m. (656 ft.);
              500 m. (1,640 ft.);
              1,000 m. (3,281 ft.);
              2,000 m. (6,562 ft.);
              5,000+ m. (16, 404+ ft.)

              Any suggestions?

                From what I can see on that close up on Europe it looks like your having trouble making rivers. In some places they go backwords and in other places they go two ways.

                  Will,
                  Actually, that's not a problem, as they represent different river bodies. If you had seen my source maps, you would understand. I am foolowing the actually plots of rivers as accurately as my map scale and squares will alllow. I have figured that the scale of the map is basically 97 miles per square. unfortunately, rivers tend to bump into one another.

                    It just looks weird when the Siene River starts in Nomandy and ends in the Alps.

                      This map of yours, Flash, looks like it has great potential. Good luck with it! BTW, did you build this from scratch, or is there a "blank" Earth template out there somewhere? I'm curious, because I'd like to create a "customized" Earth map as well at some point.

                        Gatekeeper,
                        It is wholly from scratch.

                        I based the map off of an atlas I found a few months ago. I scanned the two-part topographical map. Then I cropped the map and lined up the two halves in Paint shop Pro 7. I then used a grid overlay from PSP and copied the outline to graphpaper. (Easier to check mistakes or make alterations.)

                        This new atlas also has vegetation and natural resource maps. Which I have to estimate in the editor.

                        It is a huge map with a lot of room.

                            Gatekeeper thanks,

                            I hope it lives up to expectations. As soon as the power in StL comes back I can finish this thing.

                              Could this be the ultimate Earth-map I've been looking for since CivIII? Looking good so far!
