Doesn't work like that for me. I click on the MOD, restart the CIV4, start a new game and there's nothing about Dale's MOD anywhere to be found. So apparently there's a step in there you're not telling me about?

    • Start a new game and open the WorldBuilder (CTRL-W). Place an artillery unit in the open, then exit WorldBuilder (CTRL-W again). Select the artillery. You should have a bombard icon, click it and you should be able to bombard around the artillery.

If not, then it's not running under DCM.

      • Seems to have worked after the 2nd try. First try it caused my machine to reboot.
If the artillary works like you say, that's great; do the ships have bombardment capabilities along the shore where there are no cities?

        • First time playing with the mod. Everything seemed to be working fine until about 1100 AD. The game keeps freezing during the AI's movement phase. Can move mouse around but turn never ends.

          • Same problem again. First time a civ declared war on me. Presumably it occurred immediatley after their turn as they were able to declare war, attack me and then the game hung up as before. It continues to run but "waiting for other civilizations" does not go away. Too bad - I looked forward to giving this mod a shot but with a couple hours wasted, it's a no go.

            • Destroyers won't bombard

Playing in Dale's MOD, my destroyers do not have the bombard option like they used to.

              What's happened?

              • I believe someone has already mentioned this but wanted to throw it out there just in case someone has found a work around.

When I click OK for Dale's Combat Mod Civ IV Warlords will restart but then I'll get an error message from Vista saying that Civ IV Warlords is not responding.

I've read that this mod doesnt work with the 2.08 version so I know that's prob the case, but like I said I wanted to know if anyone has figured out how to get past this.

                • Sound problems

Painfully loud static occasionally happens after ~1 hour of play, random but seems to occur more frequently when large groups of units attack another. The sound continues to occur after doing ANY action with ANY units after the sound first occurs. Problem desists when I restart Civ4.

Sound Card: Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4, running with 5.1 speaker settings, Civ4 set to discrete 5.1. Using Warlords, sound card updated to latest driver. ATM, no other problems with this sound driver.

Going to do trial and error with settings SOON (Love you CCP =)

This is by far the best mod I've ever used for civ 4 and in my top 5 for all mods for all games! Amazing that you delivered on such an ambitious project! Cheers m8!

Edit~ No sound problems after 2 hours of play after switching to sound rendering via EAX3.

                  • If you could combine Dale's Combat Mod with Fall from Heaven mod you would have the perfect mod. IMHO.

                    • @Daishar: I actually learned of this mod through Games for Windows (Magazine) which had an article on Civ4 mods. This was listed as number one, the author also thought an incorporation of Fall from Heaven would be the perfect mod.

                      • i read about this mod too and was very interested to try it. its not loading for me though on warlords 2.08 patch. i'll need to spend some time debugging it.
I spend most my money on Wine, Women and Song.. the rest i just waste.

                        • I've read that DCM isn't compatible with Warlords 2.08, Jahi. Don't remember if it was in this thread or at CFC.

                          • I suspect there may be a hiatus until BTS is released so the next DCM version will be compliant with that.

Let us know when that happens Dale. The more CTP2 features that make it into Civ 4 the better!

I found Civ3 dull and loved CTP2. I only picked up Civ4 because I heard about BTS, which sounds like a major porting of some of the best features of CTP2 to Civ.

                            • glad to hear there is still CTP2 support ahenobarb!

Yeah BTS seems atractive to me...if your interested I'msure we cant get some coders to put together a CTP2-Features mod. Something thta takes the mising cool stuff in ctp2 and adds them to the regular civ4 mechanics (i.e. stacked combat, gold cost to make a tileimp/psuedo-PW, maybe some more civilian units, etc)
