    I like Ari's idea.

Also, what if when the government changed, the leader changed? ie, Americans as Republic have Washington, Democracy = Lincoln, Communism = Roosevelt...

Th eone thing that i originally found strange when i first started playing civ1 (on my Amiga1200) was that you could be a 20th century leader such as Mao and then meet Alexander the great not very historic but i like the fact you can play a variety of leaders and civs.

Implementing a R:TW type lineage is a good idea but would it be simpler to introduce a new type of specialist person such as a politian, which after construction of paliment in one of your cities would allow you to access and give your civ bonuses. This could be applied during of times with other special people such as Royalty during time of Monarchy.

      Just a thought

Out of interest would there be a possible penalty for an enforced change of leader?

For example, under a monarchy, would the people become upset if the first in line to the throne was usurped? - perhaps a risk of rebellion?

...and similarly under Universal sufferage the electorate would presumably be a tad miffed if the election winner was passed over?! - would perhaps require an enforced change of civic
