  • [MOD] Free Tech Mod

FreeTechMod v1.2 released December 30, 2005 written by tywiggins

Computer players now get a random technology from the list .

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FreeTechMod v1.1 released December 14, 2005 written by tywiggins

You now get to choose which technology you get. (You can only get technologies that you can currently research)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a small mod. Whenever you take over an enemy city by conquest, you get one of the enemy civ's technologies for free.(if they have any that you don't already have)

        of course

of course this is the way it should be.

cause we all beggin to play civilization in some standards.these standars cannot be ignored, cannot be deleted.i m playing civlization from 19 years old,now i m 29.i first played it in amiga.i was very sad when i saw civ 3.from all the levels, civ 3 was lacking something basic.but i couldnt define what it was.civ 3 had 2-3 major improvements, but a lot minor bad things.and we say that some times small details are making the difference.for all this i consider civ 3 a bad dream.
dont forget that in the ancient years, even the proistoric years mankind then began to steal techs from the neibor tribes.there fore it was impossible in our concious to forget all these.once again thanks tywiggins.

Excellent. I can't believe that such a missed feature could be implemented so easily in the new game.

Of course, there would have to be modifications for it when the time comes for unique technologies for civilizations, and allow tech through conquest at the same time, but hey, I'm not complaining. Thanks.

Bill3000, That would be easy enough to change. I believe it would only take one more line of code so that unique technologies couldn't be stolen.

Neat! But do you get to choose as in Civ2, or is it determined by the game?

                what i know

                hello boris.

from tests i have made the game gives u automatically a tech.it doesnt let u choose.personally i dont have a problem of that, and i dont know if this can change.only tywiggins knows.

I don't remember how it worked in civ2. I could probably change it so that it lets you choose, but it is not a high priority for me.

When you capture a city, you now get to choose one of their technologies. The list of technologies that you can take is generated when you take over the city. It includes any techs that the other player has that you don't have, but it excludes any technologies that you can't currently research.

Put the FreeTechMod folder in the Mods folder, then load it from within Civ4

                            say I take Boston

                            i get a free tech

if I take another city do I have the option of duplicating that feat or is it one per game?

                            one per civ?

You get one every time you capture an enemy city.
