    Great idea. I'd been looking for something like this.

    Also, what about allowing spies to steal technologies? If the cost were high enough (like, say, 1000 gold) it seems to me this would be another good addition to the game. Espionage in the real world can include technologies after all.
    One of these days I'll make 501 posts, and you won't have to look at my silly little diplomat anymore.

      I agree it should be in the game. But, I don't think it is possible to add/change spy missions right now.

        I have a problem with your mod:
        Whenever barbs capture one of my cities ( not tried with barbs capturing computer players cities ), the TechConquest Window also pops up. This is strange

          Does this mod also work for AI civs? Does the AI know how to pick it's free tech effectively?

              I updated the mod. Check my first post for the changes and the attachment. Also I don't know if anyone has noticed, but you do not get a free tech if you capture a size 1 city. They are destroyed before the event is triggered. I believe it also worked like this in Civ 2, though I may be wrong.

                  I might be a complete idiot but how do you get this to work? I've tried putting it in each of the mod folders individually and then in both at the same time and neither worked. Am I supposed to place it a new folder within the mod folders? I also can't find any other .rar files within the game or anywhere else, I'm I supposed to do something with the file after I've downloaded it but before I put it in my game.

                  Also once I getting working will it automatically work with the 18civs earth senario or will I have to do something to get it to work?

                    your not an idiot..or at least i dont think so

                    what you have to do, I believe, is to put in the MOD Folder then unzip it to the same folder (extract it)

                    Thats a ZIP file basically, you have to unfold it

                    Hope this helps

                      Hate to be a pain but what do you extract a rar file with? my computer doesn't seem to know nor do I.

                      I'd also love to know why Firaxis didn't just leave this in as an optional game play. Same with random goodie boxes and random battles.

                          The older version would pop up the tech selector when one ai civ takes another ai city. It basically allowed me to get a free tech when two ai's are at war. Picked up Fission that way last night!

                              The .ini file is not necessary. When you load the mod, the game will look for the .ini file outside of the mod's assets folder. If it doesn't find the .ini file, it will create one with default values.

                                I've really wanted to play with this mod, but when i try to open the RAR file, i get corrupt files on everything. I've tried multiple times, different days, on different computers in my house, and it's always the same. Is anyone else having this problem?

                                Also, it's listed as a MOD, but do i have to put it in as a mod? (ie load it from the game screen) will it work okay if i just drop it in the customassests folder and load the game?
