  • Founding Fathers- Quick question

Does anyone know what the maximum allowable number of FF's are?
(I got a total of 12 in my last game, but it was my first AoD II game).

Also, does Adam Smith double production output, or half the cost of building the factories? It is written thus "Double production speed of....(factories)".
If the latter, then he is way too far along the tree, as all mine are built by the time he arrives, if the former then he appears to be broken as I've not noticed any increase in production).

The wording of what some of the FF's do is ambiguious- use of "production" rather than "building" might be the reason.
A different example: +50% Education". (Washington Irving) Does this mean people are educated twice as quickly or they produce the abstract (to me) concept of education in the game twice as fast (I say absract as only people learning in an eductional facility output "education", even though they are the only recipitent of it).

Any comments appreciated- I'm tearing my hair out trying to establish a list of desired Fathers

You can get as many FF's as you like. There is no maximum. Consequently, max FF == total FF.

      Thanks Dale.

I've just checked another FF who has just come along in the game and he has changed nothing:

      Hernando de Soto
Game states this: "50% faster production of Stable, Ranch.

I already have a working ranch and thus was able to compare both output and building costs before and after he joined.

      Before;
      Building a ranch- 450 hammers, 300 horses
      Stable output- 5 horses

      After he joined;
      Building a ranch- 450 hammers, 300 horses
      Stable output- 5 horses

So he has no effect whatsoever, and as the blurb doesn't explain clearly whether he doubles the building speed of said buildings or doubles the output of the building (horses) I'm uncertain which one he fails to work on!

"faster production" usually refers to construction cost, whereas "output" usually refers to the production capacity of the building.

A bit confusing, could probably be cleared up by relabelling those FF's to "construction cost" and "production capacity".

Will have to check why things aren't changing when you get the FF.

That would deffo' help mate, although "Production output" would be even clearer!

Also the educational FF's- some further clarification in the F12 would be useful, or in the FF screen itself.

One other thing- In my last (and first AoDII) game, when I had defeated the REF, instead of playing the victory scene, it terminally crashed (repeatable), so no score entered!

PS: Are there any files I can edit to stop the rapid decline of manufactured goods prices in the Euro market?

It costs same amount of hammers, but you get more hammers in the colony when you start building the ranch, check it.

Hammers?! Aren't you supposed to get more horses?

BTW under the colonists it should always have the same number, but under goods it will be different.

                Hi Bakolov,

I've just started on the ranch (AoDII though) and it still requires 450 hammers and 300 horses.

                Hi Prince,
Dale commented above that "faster production" actually means "faster construction" (in the strange, odd world of the Fireaxis developers) , making him a fairly usless FF- even if he did actually work!

                  Hmmm,

Thinking of this topic of FF a little further and now knowing that "faster production" will only construct a building more quickly I pose this:

Adam Smith: The founder of the modern free-market economy helps you to build a factory twice as fast, but doesn't effect production levels in any way?
He arrives, as scheduled about 100-200 years after my factories are built- and now forewarned to the meaning of "faster production" is noted as an utterly useless FF, yet in reality was just so........important to the British commonwealth, started the end of merchantile practice and allowed a fledgling nation to flourish, and others to follow the new USA. There simply is no man or woman over the last 1,000 years that has effected the world that we live in so much as him- love the market or hate it. He created an understanding of economics before it had a name, by theory. IMHO of course!

                    Hi Toby,

Cortes offers increased production for horses (more horses)

Adam Smith offers faster construction, and indeed like all who offer faster construction is utterly useless.

I have already pointed this out, here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showpost....&postcount=185

This is an overview of my comments on LooF's FFs, which have been implemented in AoD II as well. Jenks took into account many of my comments, but still Adam Smith utterly sucks.

I wish Adam Smith offered something like x2 ore, x2 lumber, or the original x2 manufactured goods (but looking how sensitive values are, don't think I could benefit much from this by the time he arrives!)...

May be I didn't explain it well enough ...

Your colony gets bonus hammers, i.e. produces more hammers per turn while it builds the Ranch. Hover your mouse and see the tooltip on the hammers at the top of the screen while producing ranch, and while producing something else. You will see a difference.

                        Hi Bakolov,

Yes- You are right; I checked and it is correctly adding the extra hammers- thank you.
Same he's such a usless FF though!
Betsy Ross: I've got cloth coming out of my ears as she provides +1 to the basic building, in a market that drops on sales of 300+ of any manufactured good; She's too strong and I think and the +1 for the basic building should be removed.....just my thought. (That said, I'd like no basic buildings at all for the manufactured goods in each town- requiring each to first be built in your chosen town).
