  • Indians never attack?

I recall being attacked by Indians in Col1. So far, I have yet to have the Indians attack me. I am not sure why.
I haven't been exactly friendly to them, although I have never attacked. Anyone else have this happen? I am not playing on the hardest difficulty, but still...

Additionally, I did get the other colonial powers to go to war, but they prefer to avoid it, which is wise as a strategy. Everyone have similar experiences?

I have gotten attacked by indians in this game several times... you're just too nice to them apparently. Higher levels do mean more likely to attack, though.

Ok, I wondered about that. I keep upgrading the difficulty with every game so I have yet to encounter it.

Keep refusing to pay for settling near their land. It will happen.

They do attack, but you have to have them declare war on you. It's not as city-state as it was in the original, where you could alarm just one city and they would attack you (without declaring war).

Yeah they attack. I've been wiped out by the Tupi a few times.

Indians don't do the old school harassment and petty theft of Original Col, when your at peace they won't lay a finger on you, but when they war they are on the war path they MEAN it!

I do kind of miss the random attacks for no reason from Col1. They act so...civilized now

The only time I've ever been attacked by indians was once when I declared war on the frogs. Damn near every tribe on the continent declared war on me. It was a really short game.

When you found new cities, don't pay for their land. See how long it is till you get scalped.

I never pay, and never get attacked. Then again, I'm playing on the second lowest level.

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

There was a distinction for "civilized" level in the original. You could pretty much always bet on the Tupi or Aztecs attacking you without case, whereas the Cherokee or Iroquois were quite reasonable partners.

Arming the Aztecs, Apache, or Tupi with horses and guns would always come back to haunt you.

Aztecs just went crazy on me last game. I was French, with a couple missions in their towns, and I'd been paying for every inch of real estate. But in one turn they managed to purge my missions, kill a wagon train and a couple moving colonists, and raze three settlements.

I'd been going without an army and building up my economy, so it really hurt.
