What the hell does that matter? The game could be 'designed' to make fart noises every time you press "end turn", but that doesn't mean it was a good decision.

It matters because what is being attempted here are bug fixes, not gameplay improvements. There are plenty other threads discussing gameplay improvements.

Send over a wagon train to an European colony and start trading. I have done this so this is possible.

You can, however, only trade gold for resources or resources for gold ... no resource/resource trading witch can be annoying since A.I do not seem to have a lot of cash most of the time.

It matters because this is a PATCH. Patches fix bugs. Mods change the design.

Thanks for the hardwork Dale and Snoopy369

I will probably wait a little longer before installing until you guys get what you feel is a good "build" i.e. repair of bugs

I trust you that much, have tasted of your plate of work before, its well worth skipping entrees' to get to the main course

Do you guys consider the very small initial starting size of the REF to be a design decision or to rise to the level of a bug? I was hoping you'd make it a lot higher in your patch but if it's not considered a bug, I will have to try to make it bigger myself

I don't know how Snoopy feels, but I don't consider it a bug.

Then I guess we'll have to wait for some other mod to patch the underlying, fundamental bugs of the game - i.e., that its design is flawed in too many ways to count.

Until then, it's back to EU3.

In MP mode, when loading a game, the players who didn't host the game can have several specialists get shuffled in the cities from their saved location.

It will prompt with, "What do you want your "expert x x" to be doing in X city?" But with no option to look in the city.

Please explain what has you so worked up. I've looked through this entire thread and cannot find where you originally quoted me, and what request I was responding to.

                            Thanks

I've been giving this a lot of thought, actually ... I think there are good reasons to increase it, but there are equally good reasons not to increase it. The problem is that while a lot of people like the idea of requiring more cities to win, there are some equally valuable reasons to not require more cities to win...

It certainly could go into the handicap xml files, and I would think it could be something driven by the handicap; I am not entirely sure it should be substantially higher than it is now, however, for most difficulty levels. This is a complexity that I think is more involved than it appears, unfortunately, and there may not be a solution that makes everyone happy (as with most balance questions...)

Is it an easy thing or a difficult thing to mod it to make the initial REF larger? As I posted elsewhere, I think I would be pretty much happy with the game if the REF were larger initially (such that you couldn't win the revolution with virtually no army as you can now) and if the other powers were more aggressive. If I could make the REF bigger myself, that would be half the battle.
