I'm just living vicariously through others Dale (not having the game in Aus yet) - and I'm curious how to fix the Southern Hemisphere start issue... ...so what fixes this?

And, I didn't dig at the testers...

Considering you don't have it yet, there's no real point telling you eh?

Hey I would like to know and I didn't diss any play testers either.

And I believe I was the first one to ask the question (other than Flash)

No offense but when someone is trying to be polite and get an answer and staff knows the answer, I sort of expect to get the answer

Can you get it off Steam or does Steam have some kind of region blocking?

Looks like they found a bunch of retards to do the play testing.
            You think so?

Because start locations were random in Col1, and that was much better than having pre-set starting locations, especially for replayability.

N35, I don't think its an issue of pre start locations. Its an issue of the Human controlled player no matter what CIV he is playing seems to arrive in the New World at about the Equator. The other three Civs appear to be randomly placed. I tried this a dozen times last night, and even time with England, I started out off the coast of Brazil.

One time France was to my south, another time, France was to the far north.

But for some reason the human controlled player always seems to start off of Brazil. No matter what Civ the human player chooses.

So for the human there is no random placement. That would be better then what we have because then you could restart a few times, and get your locations.

The purists probably would like preset locations for all the Civ's. I know I would like that option, and also all the Indian tribes in the correct historical locations. Right now they spawn randomly all over. Meeting the Souix in the Deep Jungles of the Amazon Basin just doesn't seem "right"

I found out while trying out Dale's Mod, that you could set historical starting points for indian tribes based on their starting order during Custom Scenario Setup.

Interesting... then, can you move yourself out of the number one spot so you can start in a different location (I don't have game yet) - shooting from the hip...

Ah, that would, indeed, be not good.

Yeah. It does seem like an interesting option (I know I loved to play the original col in custom maps just to get more inca and aztec cities to plunder ) but it should be just that, an option. There should also be the chance for historical starts and indian placement...

                      My god this is hard.

I was playing on the easiest setting; had a good 68 soldiers, 5 dragoons, 11 cannons and 6 warships. King had 52; 17; 17; 26. He built that up in 50 turns, i built mine in 250. I, got, graped.
