    Yes. My version has a CD 1994 Version.

    It is heartening to note that it soon won't be a problem, but I'm just baffled why something that 'should' be working, isn't?

    currently, I'm giving unimatrix's solution a try... and will post the results in a few hours or a day.

      Hm. Regrettably, the Ini Solution didn't work. It lacks an Ini file. I tried changing the CONFIG file, but that didn't work either.

      The precise error I get is:

      "File-> findcd.c, Line->56
      Could not locate CD"

      when I try to activate the installed version on my computer.

      However, I can play the game off the CD... I just can't save?

        CDs are always finicky, because they're driver-dependent, and drivers for CD-ROMs have rather advanced since then Given this was the beginning of the CD game era, it probably was a custom routine anyway that polled some interrupt long since taken out of service for CDs ...

          Col was originally on diskettes, I still have them. Nice to not have to tweak dos box, any ideas where it can be downloaded from?

            I presume they are keeping it until after whatever exclusivity period they promised PCGamer... a week or two more maybe??

                Nah, they would certainly release it before the release of the actual game (marketing and all)... I'd be surprised if it made it much into August without it being released.

                      Well Locutus, I would take your opinion on gaming as a major reason to purchase / not purchase

                          Floppy Diskettes, of course. It'd have been on 3.5" disks.

                          Dos Box can be downloaded from any number of places. Col of course cannot be downloaded yet (AFAIK) legally.

                              I've just spent half an hour looking for this - missed the PCG back in September.

                              Anyone know where I can download it from?

                                DOSbox or the original vanilla Colonization?
                                Coling since 1994... :)
