Plenty of people get charged with murder and even face the death penalty for their crimes. There's a significant difference in the safety people have in the US and the safety people have in Mexico, in part because the US has a much more effective government. The state deters people from killing you by threatening to catch killers and put them in prison or execute them. And in the Texas you are in fact allowed to use lethal force in self defense if someone invades your home.

"Capitalism ho!"

The difference is that gay marriage upsets people who are completely unaffected by gay marriage. It only upsets nosy, judgmental, backwards ****tards, who frankly deserve to be made upset, every second, every minute, every hour, every day of their pathetic, miserable little lives. **** every last one of them, forever and ever, amen.

Defending traditional marriage against gay marriage is kind of like standing on the walls of the Alamo with a rifle to fend off illegal immigrants. That fort was lost a long time ago, and the people we're scared of now have neither the desire nor the ability to do any more damage.

Yes. I am prejudiced against people who are prejudiced. It is I who is the real monster.
IT IS A CONUNDRUM.

There's nothing prejudiced or nosy about supporting a policy that does not directly affect you. For example, I support decreasing foreign aid, even though it hardly affects the deficit, much less me.

And the gay people will grow bored of marriage, too.
There's a lot to be said for the idea that large swaths of people actually like to feel discriminated against. It gives them something to be fired up about. They also like having an excuse to blame others for being 'down' in the world. Women are a good example of this, as are blacks and gays.

Someone is finally starting to recalibrate the Wiggy login, thank goodness.

Has there been a decade in the last 100 years where there hasn't been some major 'social equality' movement? Think about it. White males are finally having one.

Yes. Every day, my life is made harder and unfair simply by virtue of being a white male. If only I had been born black, my life would be so much easier.

You're not gay, so you do the next best thing to be a part of the movement: You feel deeply offended FOR gays.
People need to take a deep breath and realize that been ornery all the time hurts the economy.

The real fun is in predicting the next big social movement.
I suspect it will be Mormon polygamists trying to ride the gay pride wave. Or possibly Indians will team up with the elderly.

I have no problem with that.

Oh joy! I have the freedom to marry a person I would never want to marry in the first place, because there is no mutual attraction, and no romantic love.
This is where an awesome Mark Twain quote would be, but Apolyton says it would be too many lines. :(

I still don't understand then, how anti-miscegenation laws are discriminatory. And yes, I understand that Kuci and others are arguing that such laws were discriminatory because it refused recognition of interracial marriages that fit the traditional definition of heterosexual marriage. But I disagree with that "reasoning."
As long as blacks were free to marry other blacks, where is the discrimination? If a black person was in love with a white person, and the two wanted to marry, anti-miscegenation laws did not deny that black person the right to marry. The black person simply had to marry another black person.
This is where an awesome Mark Twain quote would be, but Apolyton says it would be too many lines. :(

So yeah, anti-miscegenation laws denied blacks and whites from entering into traditionally defined heterosexual marriage, but blacks were still free to marry other blacks.
