It is sometimes called the Second American Revolution. British were still in forts that were technically in US territory and were impressing US sailors into the Royal Navy. That stopped after the war.

Which forts did the British have on American soil when the US declared war? Also, impressment stopped before the war ended when France made peace with Britain, not after the war. It was never even mentioned in the peace treaty.

There were plenty of reports of the Brits not abandoning there forts in the Ohio Valley. That's how they were able to push Indian raids. And there is no reason to engage in impressment when there is no conflict in which to impress sailors (just because the war with France ended doesn't mean there would be no navel warfare in the future involving the UK). And no grievances that began the war were mentioned in the Treaty of Ghent.

I'm sure there were a lot sympathetic to the Nazis, but plenty of people who volunteer to the armed services--especially when the country goes to war--do so out of patriotism, not politics. Remember Pat Tillman? I don't see why that wouldn't be true for Germans as it has been for everyone.

My point is that simply because a dude was wearing a German uniform in WW2 didn't mean he was a genocide-loving evil racist bastard.

There were definitely enough reason for germans to enlist in the army, even without being a commited Nazi.
aside from general patriotism one has to take into account, that germany was a country with a long militarist tradition (prussian traditions) where someone from the military (especially officers of course) was well respected (especially oficers of course).
(traditions in which you also were honour bound to follow the orders of your superiors and not question them)

There was also the loss of WW1 a few decades before which ended with something which was titled by many germans as "DIe Schmach von Versailles" (The Ignomy of Vrsailles) and which can be seen as another reason for a german at this time to volunteer for the army and (without being a racist) support Hitlers plans of conquest (especially with regards to poland, considering the fact that the treaty of Versailles gave a large chunk of eastern prussia to poland)

Things were different for the Waffen-SS were (at least at the beginning, where they could afford to select) candidates were not only screened for their physical fitness and the racial purity of their family during the last few generations, but also for their ideological consolidation with regards to the national socialist ideology.

The Nazis were dumber. They photographed themselves murdering countless numbers, and kept detailed records about their mass slaughter.

I have heard in the east many joined the Nazi army because they hated the Soviets. Especially in the Baltic States.

Not sure how true this is.

It's true. There's a long-standing controversy whether to hail them as heroes or not. On one hand, they fought for independence. On the other hand, Nazis.
By the way, there were almost no Jews left in the Baltic states after the war. No, most of them didn't get to emigrate. The locals turned out to be surprisingly supportive of the final solution.

Dividing of Jewish property was a Christian tradition from Roman times.

I don't know what the fuss is all about, It was common knowledge when I was a kid that the Nazis enlisted lots of volunteers from all over Europe. Out of some 38 SS divisions 23 were manned wholly or largely by foreigners.
