I play several times a week.![]()

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. - Zephaniah 3:17
Bananas, because I have it, but have not had time to go through more than a couple campaigns. So i havn't set it aside, per se.
Downloaded the demo, and found out that, yes, technically, it does work, but waiting a minimum of thirty seconds to draw each frame means that I'm not going to get it until I get a computer that will actually run it.
So... no. I'm not playing Civ 5, even though I'd like to.

THE BARBARIAN STATE HAS WON A SPACE RACE VICTORY!!!
I play about 1 epic game per week. Except for this week, when I started my 1st marathon game and am now about to abort it (I'm in a very sorry state ... obviously don't have the pacing right) and start over.
My basic problem with civ5: I'm LOSING 3-4 times as often as I did with civ4.![]()
I'm still playing whenever I can... It's not a "great" game yet, but as it is with all new releases, I expect it to get better.
Keep on Civin'
RIP Baron O
I have it but didn't installed it yet.
Go Arsenal!!!
I have and play it; but just a few turns each time... can't handle the same long journeys of previous civs.
Have it, played a little at the beginning, but don´t play it at the moment, thanks to RL and LotRO.
So I count it as "have it but put it aside" (although not permanently...probably just for the next couple of weeks)
Applications programming is a race between software engineers, who strive to produce idiot-proof programs, and the Universe which strives to produce bigger idiots. - software engineers' saying
So far, the Universe is winning.

Playing it almost every day
Put aside, for now...
no more turns...
I play a couple games, then put it aside to complete another game, but I keep coming back for more. I enjoy the game now, and am really excited for how good it could become in the future.

Play it almost every day
This space is empty... or is it?
Gunna be a Christmas gift. I imagine I'll play it everyday (a few turns) once I get it.

I have it and enjoy it. But haven't played recently mostly due to lack of time. Plus I'm probably due for a computer upgrade.

dont have it, dont plan on getting till/if i hear better overall experience from users.
Don't have it, don't plan on getting it any time soon. Might wait till a few patches after the first expansion pack, and see if it is worthwhile then.
Plus I don't much care for steam, which makes the bar that civ 5 has to reach to be purchase-worthy that little bit higher.
I don't have it yet, probably won't get it... would like to though. Some of the changes look interesting.
"tout comprendre, c'est tout pardonner"
Another vote for "downloaded the demo, and it is painfully slow on my computer". From what I've read so far, I'm not trotting out to buy a new machine just to play this game.
Got it, played a couple game. This preview seems neat, I think I will enjoy the full game when it is released in a few years.![]()
I have it and am playing it -
Sporadically. I'll find myself playing for an evening, and then not picking it up for another 10 days, and playing other things instead.
I suspect that as with Civ IV it won't fully grab my attention until it has been polished by a year or so of patches and expansions.
"...your Caravel has killed a Spanish Man-o-War."
Civ5 not yet 2 months. I guess Jaybe not speaking about his victories/defeats on civ4 in its first 2 months...
Experience...not just from one own games but also (and more important) from other people posts.
Very few posts about strategy indeed (well, I made none); not a good signal.
I play it in bursts, but don't feel obsessed to fire it up constantly.
And indeed there will be time To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?". t s eliot

While civ5 is not 'mature' yet, it may also be true that players of the game haven't got a solid handle on strats yet, which may be a GOOD signal.
Personally, I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not aggressive enough towards my neighbors. Which results in low scores or losses (especially when a civ on the other continent reaches critical mass and goes on a conquering spree).
I voted bananas. I dont have it (due to my issues with the security of the Steam Client), and may never have it, despite my desire to play it.
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Just one old soldiers opinion. E Tenebris Lux. Pax quaeritur bello.
i lost my first game, and won every game since up to the one below deity. i'm pretty sure i could beat that one by early rapid expansion, and with an archipelago map. that way, the AI's bonuses are offset, and an AI deficiency is exploited (naval activities).
the key is getting a hang for what to do and what not (how/where to expand, what to research first, etc). i hope future versions of Civ5 will decrease the AI's bonuses at higher levels, and significantly increase its comprehension of proper long-term strategy and battle tactics.
So you are saying that if you played other than archipelago you could have more of a challenge, or even perhaps enjoy the game more (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)?
I don't play the game to manipulate the AI in most cases (except when desperate). Once I am comfortable with the game, I'll even play by 'house rules' to avoid exploiting the AI (again, desperation excluded).
I've never played archipelago with any of the civ series. It's always been some sort of continents (continents, terra, or the perfectworld2 maspscript for civ4). I think I may have played pangaea only once or twice. More immersion for me that way.
