Sloww's claim that Romo's receivers hold him back is preposterous. One could make an argument Romo is so good BECAUSE of his receivers. The man has been blessed with league-leading talent around him.
I don't think he's blessed per se. He still has to make the right reads and pass the ****ing ball.

Let's go with Alby's hypothesis of Witten being the 2nd receiver. Why might that be? Do you think it might be because there's not a dependable TRUE 2nd WR? Don't forget, Austin has really only played two years. Don't talk to me about Moss the Cancer.
WOW! What a concept. And as Witten is busy being 2nd WR, that's one less blocker stopping Romo from being harassed.

Alby, you are truly a total and complete fool. I say this after I've just told you why above. This is in addition to you being a total slut. Imran aspires to be as slutty as you.

Dude, who cares about a true 2nd WR. Rivers doesn't.

Good argument. He's been to as many Super Bowls as Romo.

Yeah Rex Grossman has been to one also. It's done a lot for his career.

And you don't want the cutoff to get too low... 1000 yards is the general cutoff for what is considered a top NFL WR.
Oh sure, but the gap between the Chargers and the Cowboys, Patroits and Colts isn't as great. I'd say it was 4:3 in favour of the Cowboys.

That still doesn't change the fact that the Cowboys have had one of the best, if not the best, receiving unit in the NFL.

If you go back to 2004, add another two years, the Chargers have had 10 recievers with at least 900 yards. Cowboys have 13. Colts have 12. Patroits 7.

So while your point stands, the Chargers are right up there.

Who gives a ****? This observation wasn't about the god damned Chargers!

It's about how Romo has had great talent at receiver! With more 1000 yard receivers than even the high-flying Colts and Pats.

It's not about you, Ben, or your precious Chargers

983 yards and 9 TDs in just 13 games with Cincinnati at age 37 say otherwise.

Not to bring any Ben-'logic' into this but to put that in perspective... if he had maintained that rate for just three more games, he would have had 1209 yards.

The Bengals sucked last year but TO was on point. If he was so effective at 37, he must've been even better in his early 30's.

Never even heard of that song before*. What? Did every football team have a rap song in the 80's?

    Where's that tradition now?

*odd I never heard of it considering that entire song could be a sexual innuendo.

Right, I forgot that TO was throwing himself the ball in Cincinnati.

Just shy of a 1000 yards in 13 games at age 37 playing as a #2 WR with the completely fallen off a cliff washed up Carson Palmer...

You're smoking crack if you don't think TO was still elite at 34 if he played at this level at 37.

Even in the mess that was the 2009 Bills, TO mustered 829 yards which is not bad. Even with terrible QB play, TO can get that.

Why are the Bengals pissing their pants over the prospect of losing Palmer then? Don't talk about a rookie QB in the wings not being ready. If Palmer was as bad as you say, the Bengals should have moved before now. It almost seems like you're wrong, but I know that can't be the case.

You are a fool, Sloww. Carson Palmer is still better than garbage but he's a shadow of his former self. He's maybe like the 15th best QB in the NFL at this point. That's better than what they would have if they let him walk but it's not like Carson Palmer made TO look good.

So the Bengals, Bears, Rams, Raiders, 49ers, and Dolphins had 80's rap songs... who else? Why was this a thing?

Romo's receivers are unusually good, but their high numbers are in part because Romo is just a "big numbers" sort of guy. He has lots of incompletions, lots of really long passes, lots of interceptions. He gives his receivers raw production at the expense of consistency.

People are correct that he is not a great QB in the way that Rivers or Rodgers is, much less Peyton. But he's a good one. His numbers, which are excellent, overstate his quality because he has great receivers and he plays high-risk high-reward.

Thank you, Jaguar! That's my point. He's a good QB with stats that look elite but they're inflated by the talent around him and that sort of offense.

He also chokes in the playoffs so that knocks him down a peg.

Here, Sloww, just for you. Cool Madden 12 screenshot of Dez Bryant scorching the Redskins in a throwback-style game:
