Industrialization and urbanization have resulted in a profound deterioration of India's air quality. India has more than 20 cities with populations of at least 1 million, and some of them--including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata--are among the world's most polluted. Urban air quality ranks among the world's worst. Of the 3 million premature deaths in the world that occur each year due to outdoor and indoor air pollution, the highest number are assessed to occur in India. Sources of air pollution, India's most severe environmental problem, come in several forms, including vehicular emissions and untreated industrial smoke.

    Want some more, here goes.

    Have fun.

Coal is cancerous (or however its said, I dont care, you know what I mean) and is illegal in most countries now, like in CANADA! If you look at the whole picture, for an industrialised country, canada is one of the least polluting ones.

Well it's interesting to see how fluffy green politics quickly translates into an excuse for a national hatred. A while back it was China getting it in the neck on this forum for having the temerity to industrialise itself, now its India.

    K.

    From your own links...

In 2001, India, with 251 million metric tons of carbon equivalent emitted, ranked fifth in the world in carbon emissions, behind the United States, China, Russia and Japan.

...India's carbon emissions stood at only 80% of Japan's (316 million metric tons of carbon equivalent) total and less than one-sixth of the United States' (1,565 million metric tons) carbon emissions that same year...

India's per capita carbon emissions are relatively low - at 0.25 metric tons of carbon per person in 2001, India's per capita carbon emissions were less than one-quarter of the world average and 22 times less than the United States.

Ontario alone has 4 (I think 3 now - we closed one).

    Wow, you uninformed twitt.

    http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/tfacts7.html

Breathing high levels of chromium(VI) can cause irritation to the nose, such as runny nose, nosebleeds, and ulcers and holes in the nasal septum.

Ingesting large amounts of chromium(VI) can cause stomach upsets and ulcers, convulsions, kidney and liver damage, and even death.

Skin contact with certain chromium(VI) compounds can cause skin ulcers. Some people are extremely sensitive to chromium(VI) or chromium(III). Allergic reactions consisting of severe redness and swelling of the skin have been noted.
Please oh please, chromium is harmeless!

ok then you wanna play on CO2. What filters CO2...hmmmm....trees right. And how many trees does canada have compared to other countries? If every contry had the amount of people per square mile as we do, we wouldn't be in the situation we are now.

    This is true.

Also, if there was no such thing as pollution, we wouldn't be in the situation we are now.

If little green fairies flew out of our asses and cleaned up all the pollution in the world, we wouldn't be in the situation we are now.

Who said anything about not having the right to an opinion? Just expect it to get shot at by people who have different opinions.

My point is that Green politics is turning out to be almost as good a way to get people to hate each other as things like religious and ethno-extremism.

For those of us that don't think that the word of the Greens is 'gospel', it is a corrosive and divisive politics, dressed as a self-righteous one.

How about the quote from the article you posted, saying that India's per capita carbon emissions were less than one-quarter of the world average? How does that fit into your scheme?

Spec - Your assertion of Quebec power generation appears true (to a point - coal is not 'illegal' just not part of government policy to use). The vast majority of Quebec power is from hydro-electric.

Now, if the rest of the provinces could get such a sweet deal from the newfies or, in the alternative, flood several thousand hectares of native land we could do the same.

    Nonsense.

Although often thought of as as carbon dioxide sinks, mature forests are approximately carbon neutral

No it's not necessarly true. We are 35000000 and we have many many thec advances and inventions under our flag. How many does India have for a 1.1billion population that just lay there. They dont help with thecnology as amuch as other countries with the quarter of their population. Anyway.

How about the quote from the article you posted, saying that India's per capita carbon emissions were less than one-quarter of the world average? How does that fit into your scheme?
Not as much thecnology or money. Not everyone have cars over there, they walk or ride bikes. That helps a lot.
