Arabia: Mohammad
That's probably a good idea. Having leaders of religions as leaders in the game is just asking for protests
.
There are little 16x16 pictures of each leader:
Arabia: Mohammad
Egypt: Menes
Greece: Pericles (!) that would have been good!
Japan: Meiji
Mali: Sundjata
Mongol: Ogodei
Persia: Darius (another good choice lsot)
Rome: Augustus
Sioux(!): Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull
Spain: Charles V
Sumeria(!): Sargon and Gilgemesh

Perciles would be an excellent choice... Maybe it is just me, but I'm getting tired of Alexander all the time.![]()

Pericles ? WTF - he was Athens's mayor and not Greece's leader. In fact only Alexander can even considered as such...

Maybe I'm being small minded, but in my studies of Arabia and Mohammad, I can't imagine how he would be a controversial leader.Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui

And Alexander is Macedonian, too...
Greece indeed has the Macedonian Alexander, and a number of famous Athenian and Spartan leaders, but not really many leaders of Greece per se.

Can you imagine Moses as an Israeli leader? Or Jesus as a leader? People would be pissed their 'prophet' would be a leader of a civilation with leader traits and doing nasty things or whatnot.Originally posted by Ninot

Anyway, those are only the ones of which (very rough) concept art was made, I think there were a couple more that were considered but that didn't even make it that far. That the art isn't there doesn't really mean much, other than to illustrate that sinlge every aspect of the game was thoroughly reviewed and revised over and over and over and over again![]()

Good find!
Maybe Firaxis will use some hidden tricks ni future patches.

i think for Israel....King David and King Solomon
Pericles for the Greeks would have been AWESOME. I have been renaming my Greek leaders Pericles since Civ1.

It would also add complications having him as a leader of a civ that... used pigs for health purposes (what about shellfish? I'm not sure) and perhaps used some of the civics.
All in all, bad idea to even risk offending a whole lot of people.

Well, Mohammad DID lead the Arabs for a time and profoundly changed their course through history.

Firaxis, more than one or two guys, most certainly should be smarter than to consider allowing that to stand.

Aha, so my Caesar Augustus was already a seed in the Firaxian mind! Pericles and Darius would also be good (though Darius kind of wimped out)...

This person should never be in a game. If OBL and his boys ever found out, they just might go after the studio that made the game.

Since we have Roosevelt. I wouldn've liked to see Churchill for the Brits, though they already got two leaders.
There are some controversies Firaxis won't touch. They include FDR and the Navy SEALS, but stop at having Panzers without including Hitler. Similarly, they will not include Mohammhed.
I'm surprised that the Sioux were not included. Civ II had them, after all.

That's not the point nye was making. The depiction of Mohammed's visage is considered a horrible sin in Islam. It's an offense that need not be made.Originally posted by dearmad

Fascinating, it should be interesting to see some of these guys in a future expansion.

Some of these guys would only ever make it in a "Player made expansion" for the reasons already pointed out. But, it would be an interesting twist, eh?Originally posted by monkspider

I'm sure that we will see at least a few of these guys in the future. Pericles, Augustus, Darius, Menes, Meiji are all shoe-ins I would say.
What I find most interesting is that Firaxis would have included Sumeria and Sioux over Babylon and Iroquois. That really surprises me, and I can't say that I would necessarily agree with the choice.

I'm very interested in activating some of these alternate leaderheads, if there's a way to do this. Where are these files located???
