SMAC terrain graphics mod

i prefer the original posters textures. for normal smax i wouldnt use it,but in BE2 i just joined,it will work nicely

Hello, I see the article about this thread ( A REFRESHING GRAPHICAL CHANGE
31 August 2005, 07:27 | | 30 comments -- MarkG ) and there are 3 pictures with new textures - but when I download a file texturev3.zip from first wgabrie reply the textures are new but not good as in arcicle.
Where I could download texture file the same as in article?

I changed the file in post one to make it easier to download the latest version. I didn't want everyone scrolling through a thread to find the latest version.

The original version, the one listed in the article, wasn't at all as nice as the final version. It was visually distracting and difficult to make out. But if you still want it, I'll see if I still have it on my computer.

Bumped based on a conversation I had the other day with Hydro.

Fungus is a frothy gold color, and the other terrain colors are much more palatable. Highly recommended for anyone who'd like a change from the default color schemes!

It's nice to see a refreshing change to the visuals. I don't surpose anyone is still making any changes to he graphics, either here or anywhere else?

I'm mostly working faction graphics as seen all over the top of the first page of Creation.

I've got some of the sort of thing wgabrie did on my build queue, though.

I don't go for faction graphics too much. I like the originals as they remind me of the good ol' days when I first bought SMAC. Although, if the new faction graphics where improved versions of the origianls, then perhaps I would consider it.

I've a splinter faction project mostly done, though I guess that's not what you mean. Check out the Alt. Official thread, and the older of the Eye of the Beholder threads in AC General, if I've roused your curiosity- I'd love to know if any thrill you at all.

I've now added makeovers for the official factions to my "maybe down the road" list. You will find two portrait tweakings, Miram and Santigo, in the "Sister Miram de-uglified" thread, for that matter, and the last Miriam one seems to be worthy of use in such a project...

Thanks for the alternate texture.pcx
I still love SMAC, best set up ever!
The only thing lacking was a palatable map texture. I'll give yours a try and see who it plays.
Just an aside, has anyone played planetfall?
The maps look awesome, but i'm guessing it's lost the beauty of the smac gameplay.

I can't seem to download any of the files linked in the posts. I am new to these boards and would love to try wgabrie's alternate texture.pcx. I love Alpha Centauri and STILL play it but I'd love better terrain graphics.

The attached images in this thread do not work but the attached zip files work. The only problem I saw here was with Wgabrie's Terrain version 1 link, which I fixed, temporarly.

I was able to download the Terrain version 1 file. The other links look like they download but they download a zip file with nothing inside. It shows up as a size 0 kb zip file on my computer. Thank you for fixing the link though. Wgabrie's graphics mod is much easier on the eyes.
