Ohh great now we have to sign up and pay for some game review site just to get a chance to get the RON. Why not do something what gamespy did when they offered command and conquer generals asfor their members. I joined them for at least a month to test it out.

From my understandin Gamespot has you signing up for a year to be a memeber of gamespot complete.

    This is not fair!

This isn't a reason for you to join them, this is a reward to their current members who are paying. They were promised exclusive opertunities and that's what they are getting.

Also, if you pay per month it's only like $5, i intend to register for a month, get into the drawing and then cancel it.

Well, $5 isn't that much... Especially taking into consideration, that if you won The Sims Online beta, you would have to pay $5 for shipping... Didn't play the beta, because I was too lazy to find my credit card, and fill out that form.

But any way, it is true that in that month you also get all the goodies Gamespot provides, so it might be worth it to join for a month...

I paid to give it a try and was never able to get it took work. I think due to being on a network, The Sims would not work with it. I tried and tried but nothing. And they never responded to my emails or posts. Oh well, I wasn't going to pay for the game when it came out anyways.

I wonder if it is really worth that much? Anyone subscribe now and happy with the site?
About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. With a simple click daily at the Hunger Site you can provide food for those who need it.

Well, I am actually considering changing my subscription to yearly. It is true that I am not interested in most of the games they cover - I only play strategy and adventure games, and most of them nowadays are shooters of some sort...

But think about it this way: You pay for it even less for a game-magazine subscription. $19/year for gamespot vs $35 - $40 for a game magazine. But with GS you also get movies, interviews, and other cool stuff.

So, I am pretty much satisfied with the subscription so far. I won't keep the monthly subscription, because it is silly, given their cheap yearly rate, but I am seriously considering the yearly subscription.
