  • order of research

What do you research first? I would probably research science, civic, commerce, and then military.
And is it possible to research Science, Civic, Civic, Commerce military?

How are the tech trees organized? Is there even a tech-tree or is it like AOE and EE where buildings allow you to research new techs in each "age" or "epoch"?
To us, it is the BEAST.

There are 4 major tech areas you can research.

Science - Reduces cost of research, increases bonuses from ruins, allows for other researches i thnk (such as increased oil production?).

Comerce - Increases your comerce cap for basically all your economic income, which allows you to chop more wood, harvest more food, etc.

Civics - Allows you to have more cities and ?

Military - Allows you to build more kinds of units and upgrades and increases pop cap.

Yes, you could research Commerce-> Commerce-> Civic-> Civic-> Civic-> Civic, etc. But though the tech lines are independent (you simply need a set number of major techs to unlock the 'age-up' tech), your nation would be quite crippled if you research unwisely.

Also, more advanced techs get discounts in the later ages.

This is my way: Science, Civic, Civic, Commerce ...then depend. I research military late, but i play: easy or moderate

From the games of the beta I've played, I always wind up researching military first. I just dislike having no defenses whatsoever -- seems like the only way that you could be rushed within RoN. After military, I normally go with either Civic (Extra cities) or Commerce (Raise the commerce cap). I normally leave Science till fairly late -- it's the one thing that won't stop you until there's something specific you need.

I think placing science first is a sure way to die quick, besides you need military advance for the popcap, so it's of even more importance.

This is not from experience, but I guess my order would be, military, commerce, civic, science.

As long as it allows me to keep a steady flow of vills and military, I think it's a good order of research

OK, I've played a few games, and it seems science is more important at the start than I thought.

I'm still not sure about the exact order, but you don't need extra popcap or cities during the first minutes I think. Science is cool because it reduces the cost of all your other researches.

I had two rare resources right next to my first city in a recent game, so I went ahead and researched commerce first that time. I was able to build merchants right off the bat and start gaining the bonuses for the resources. Hmm... seems that there's no one correct way to research.

when i played at fragapolooza...i received commerse 1st to up my production cap, then as much the expand number of cities. military when i needed pop cap. science was my last priority. i only researched it when i had to, 1st when i wanted to get metal. if i had inca maybe i would get started in that earlier since they get wealth with their metal...but my overall plan is to do everything possible to create as strong an economy as possible...having outdated troops isnt that bad, since i was planning to only defend with them, until i could age up to a really advanced level and just overwhelm with a large army and econ

I have several different starts depending on the situation (map, nation, enemy nation, game settings, etc...). My most common is Science, Civic, Commerce and then either Classical or Military.

you don't have a beta? I thought you ran RON Heaven. Don't the web site people automatically get betas? And, your like an expert on RON, so first of all, I think you and Rohag should have recieved a beta.
