Rise Of Nations Beta Has Been Pirated!!!

Well guys, I have a bit of an update for you.

These files appear to be fakes, although it's impossible to tell for certain with the last one, since the complete file is no longer provided by the creator.

The "RISE_OF_NATIONS_CRACK" is actually a pornographic "stardialer", for a low low rate of $1.50 (US) a minute.

The "Rise of nations" .iso / .zip (lol) weighing at 823.25mb, is another rename. Unless you like keeping large sized porn movies on your computer, this probably isn't a download for you.

"Rise.of.Nations.Beta.GamejackCDimage.xmf" May be an original, but you'll probably be downloading until May. I've been working it for several days, and it's clear that the full file is no longer (and may never be) available.

In conclusion, it seems some pranksters have a bit too much time on their hands.

RoN crack - obvious fake, by size.
ISO image - really a renamed porn movie... gahhh! Anyone needs 800 mb of porn?
XMF-something... odd. Anyway, XMF files are no CD images .

Yes, I too had found those downloads, and they are obvious fakes. Just looking at the sources give them away.

it just good business practice....distributing the code too freely is a wipe recipe for the game to be pirated completely. and you dont know what is actually in the game or not in the game with the beta. It could be the full thing but just with parts disabled, so a hacker could eventually break the code and rip off the entire game.

Well, I am generally against piracy. However, I have been ripped so many times on games that just plain suck...I freely admit that I make every attempt possible to try a game out before I buy it. If I know a demo is in the works, fine. If not, I figure something else out.

I have a stack of games that just suck. More often than not, when I buy a game sight unseen...I regret it.
MOO3 is the latest to be headed for that stack, although I am holding off until its patched.

As for no-cd hacks, its the first thing I do when I install a game. If you have kids as I do, the disks take a beating....my PS2 is a perfect example.....the back of these disks look like roadmaps.

I hear a lot of people blaming the big companies like Infogrames for the games being released early and in bad shape. Ok, cant argue with that...the suits want to make money, to heck with the games condition...release, then patch.

But, I dont feel much love for the developers either. I am so tired of the constant knockoffs of this game and that. Lets show some originality, lets try something new. I would give up all my games for 1 good innovative RTS. Not a C&C clone. Plus, what do these developers think is going to happen when they sign on with the big boys....in the real world, good or bad, its all about money.

Now...I give a big thumbs up to Brad of GalCiv fame.....that is a shining example of people supporting their product and talking to the fans.

Anyone here a MaddenFootball player.....the games are generally good, but try to get the EA people to talk to you. I have seen an occasional post from people at Tiburon(the developer), but nothing like we see from Brad.

I know im covering old ground, just needed to vent.

The sick thing people never realize...pirating games can increase sales somewhat. Cause a lot of people who play games "Want the real thing," and the ghetto it...like it, buy it.

Personally, I think open Beta's/Alpha's work better than closed ones...cause that way I get it too.

According to that screen shot, the file is an .xmf application. Now, if I remember correctly, .xmf stands for eXtensible Music Format, which is a type of music file, meaning it's not a playable game at all.

I saw that and was thinking of trying to grab it. I've won the gamespot contest. I received the e-mail but have yet to receive it. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that isn;t really lucky since I don't have it yet.
