  • More Questions for BHG

How dare you post questions when mine have not been answered?!?!?!

Good question about Russia though. I hope the high attrition stays put. It'll make my conquering of the world a lot more easier.

I am pretty sure that they said CtW is different than the campaigns, which says that there will be campaigns in my line of thinking.

    7. How far is BHG willing to go when it comes to CD copy protection? Will it go so far as to hinder the fans experience becase they are plagued with CD copy problems in order to prevent pirating (which, of course, is impossible. Every game can be pirated.) or is BHG not really focusing on the issue all that much?

He will say that is up to the publisher.

    9. Are there any plans on posting a gameplay video teaser in order to provide a little more hype for us fans?

They already have shots of gameplay on their website. Or at least Apolyton has them.

    10. How compatible is RoN with operating systems (Does it get along with XP? What about 98? ME? What about old hardware (Monitors, etc....)?)

Probably another publisher answer. They have said they are designing it on XP and so it works on that. In terms of 98 and ME, my guess is that is up to MS but it will be in.

    13. Many Americans wish to play as their own civilization. Will we be given the tools required to make an American civilization, and Indian, etc etc...?

Us, Americans will get over it. The key thing is a good game. That is what I care about. And that is what the reviewers care about too.

Assuming One_Dead_Villie is correct about the ally, neutral, enemy setting how will you deal with the problem of someone (an ally) buildling "in your backyard", buildling a bunch of military and then declaring war? Will the intruders units and buildlings be killed? Units expelled and buildlings destroyed? Or just leave it as it is? Maybe increase the cost of declaring war?
Graham said the following on the subject in his new interview (http://www.ogresnet.com/features/int...m_somers.shtml):

Cities and Forts expand your national borders, which are the areas you can construct buildings. This feature prevents things like Tower pushing, or other strategies where opponents construct buildings in your town.

So it sounds like this won't be a problem in RoN.

tniem, thats a different issue. I am thking more in terms of doing legit movements and building of stuff in allied territory to aid them. if the ally stance doesnt allow troops to enter without being attritioned then it would be really hard to help an ally out. but on the other hand it open up the possibility of a serious backstab. but the cost of declaring war on a former ally as opposed to neutrals is high so that will mitigate that situation. but it is critical one should be able to help an ally out by sending troops if not also building some stuff to help out.
        Are you down with ODV?

          One_Dead_Villy,

I apologize to you. I was answering what was asked about building in your allies territory. As for movement through and stationing troops, I have to believe that it is in the game to some degree. You are probably correct that simply turning up the cost of declaring war will solve the problems. Maybe there is some option where you cannot declare war on an ally if you are in their territory without first removing your troops or something along those lines.

I hope the game is moddable. All good games were easy to hack

Yes, all indications are that the game will be very moddable. But how about some new information on this? Including, ideally, a fairly detailled description of the scripting language. I'd be satisfied if someone from BHG just posted a snippet of the code.

                Tassadar,

I hate CD keys for the simple reason that I do not bring all my cases to school with me. I am constantly running new things on my comp and reinstalling windows twice a year. Each time, I lose games with CD keys until I go home to get the key. Yet, I could simply go online and get the game off the net. Makes you wonder why someone that truly bought the game has to go so far to prove he is legit.

Well, I lose the CD case because I always put my CDs in a seperate holder. I have a lot of disks and I am not going to take all the cases to school and back every time I go home and back. So I will continue to keep my CDs in a seperate holder. Put the key on the CD itself. Or at least give me a spot to write it in with a Sharpie. It is just frustrating that since I do not have CD case here at school I cannot finish my Diablo II run.

I'll answer what I can...sorry that I don't have answers for every question right now but much of the game and our plans are still in flux.

"In a few previews, it was stated that you cannot capture a Russian city and are forced to burn it....Is this true?"

It may have been true at one time, but currently you can capture Russian cities just as you would cities for any other nation. (sorry Russian fans)

"Will there be any campagins (other than Conquer the World) in RoN? Will the fans be able to make their own?"

Certainly fans will be able to create their own campaigns. There will be some other "stuff" besides conquer the world, but I can't talk about that right now or I'll be shot...red october style.

"How robust is the Scenario Editor?"

As robust as we can make it, because we are using it too!

"How compatible is RoN with operating systems..."

We run the game on Win2000, Win XP, and I believe Win ME as well. It will run on just about anything windows...Microsoft is our publisher afterall. ...hardware etc is another ball of wax that we have to juggle. Given our system requirements, it's quite apparent that older machines will be running our game, so we will be doing our best to make sure that this happens with as few hitches as possible.

"I'd be satisfied if someone from BHG just posted a snippet of the code."

Hmmmm, I believe there was a screenshot of Pancake's (one of our programmers) desktop over at Voodoo Extreme a month back or so...

Problem isn't whether it is stable but whether ME is stable, which it is not. So even if RoN is incredibly stable, ME will still crash (hell IE usually crashed it when I had it- IE! which is supposed to be an integral part of the OS ).
