Warlords 3 gave some units a warding bonus for every unit in the group.Perhaps if the X game BHG is making gave a bonus for every unit in the group (or perhaps a square root of the number of units) to every member of the group, then small Tool Age strike parties would be even easier to defeat than respectable Iron Age armies.
