  • Voice Actors Needed

Age of Nations (AoN), the first Rise of Nations and Real-Time Strategy series machinima, is looking for voice actors for three characters to appear in future episodes. One or part of one of their lines appears below as well as instructions for submitting auditions for them.

    CHARACTER #1
"We have been away from home for more than a dozen moons. Any further exploration will take time. And time, we have not."
      Cast

    CHARACTER #2
"Sir, I have spotted the enemy troops. They are returning for another pass".
      Cast

    CHARACTER #3
"Like Marshmallow does not engage in idle conversation?"
      Cast

Characters #2 and #3 must sound masculine, but Character #1 may be either masculine or feminine. Men and women are welcome to apply for all positions.

To submit your audition(s) to voice one or more of the characters above, read a line above and save each in MP3 format in mono at 128bkps quality with the name "characterX.mp3" where X corresponds to the number above. Email your audition(s) to AoN Creator/Producer Daniel "DanQ" Quick with "AoN Audition" in the Subject line. All applications received will be responded to indicating their acception or rejection; where accepted, applicants will be provided with additional details. Some rejection letters may also contain a note that they will be considered and contacted first for future role considerations unless the applicant specifies otherwise.

AoN has and continues to be developed by Apolyton Civilization Site, one of the oldest and premiere online computer strategy gaming fansites on the Internet.

And now, the only thing an English degree is good for...

Hi, this isn't exactly about the voiceovers, but is for whomever is writing the dialogue:

"Hath" is a singular form of "have" -- so when the character says

"We hath been away from home for more than a dozen moons. Any further exploration will take time. And time, we have not."
it's like he's saying, "We has been away."

That aside, he says "we hath" and then, in the last sentence, "we have." Did English reform during the middle sentence?

Just keeping you guys on your feet with a heads-up. Good luck with the project.

Nice movie. I think the quality of the voice overs could be improved tremendously if windscreens or "P poppers" were used.

If I have some time today, I'll send in my audition tape.

      Thanks,

Ahh -- appreciate the note on "hath". Consider it changed to "have" (as now noted above). As for the second sentence... consider it charm.

        Thanks on both fronts!

With our bearings more in place now, the audio quality should be notably improved with Episode 102. There may be some bonus clips in the future... wait, I've said too much already...

We will always consider the likelihood of room for greater improvement, however, and appreciate the suggestions. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the audio quality in the next episode.

If I have some time today, I'll send in my audition tape.
        -- looking forward to it!

Dan, you may want to allow the reader to speak more lines for Character 3. It seems like it might be very difficult to portray Character 3 based on the information available.

I'm a demanding producer, I know. I thought you did too.

The (only) other line for this character is "Yes, sir", although it comes later in the particular script. If someone wishes to submit this line as well...

Deadline for audition submissions for Characters #1 and 3 is this coming Sunday, January 8th (EST).
