  • RoN vs. AoE3?

How do these to stack up? I recently played the demo of the new AoE game for a couple of hours and it seemed somehow less smooth than RoN, I can't put my finger on it, but the impression AoE3 made was not that great.

So, I am curious what other RoN players think, is AoE3 worth $50, or should I save my money and keep playing RoN?

IMHO I think it's better to save up 50$ and enjoy RON with T&P for some more.

I tried the full version of AoE3, but I had a very hard time enjoying the game

The most interesting feature in AoE3 (on paper) turned out very lame. I had great hopes for the bonus cards avaliable in the game, but it was done so crappy it was more of an annoyance than fun. The bonuses given are too small to matter, while you get them too often, so you have to waste a lot of time with something that's not fun
And what did they think about with the resource bonuses? So you get 300 food, but it takes a long time to get here (so you don't get it when in need), but when it finally arrives it acts just as normal resource gathering as you have to send your workers over to collect it (which takes time), so for the time it takes for your worker to walk over to it and collect it, you could have gathered the same (if not more) amount of that resource
Only very few of them are actually useful
This space is empty... or is it?

I am not a regular RoN player (don't ask why I'm in this forum) but I can vouch that AoE3 has nothing compared to most older games I've played. Whilst I agree with Adagio that the cards are annoying, I find them somewhat less useless than he makes them out to be, although they are definitely not as revolutionary as they may seem.

Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

I like AOE3. It sure resembles AOM/AOE, but the home city concept is cool. And the game doesn't stop when you're on the home city screen. The graphics are much better than RON, which I don't care much because it's the game engine I care about. It's nice to go over to AOE3 for awhile rather than learn every nook and cranny of T&P, at least to pass the time till ROL and Galciv II come out.
