  • RoN Addiction

    Hey guys!

I'm not sure if this topic was done before... here goes...

I'm curious about how addicted you get to RoN? I know several games can get truly addictive such as Civilization "1 more turn" syndrome.

One of the high points of RoN for me is when I get into the Gunpowder age and start to make gunpowder units. I try to create mass armies and then do "logger-head" battles with the enemy on medium or hard difficulty levels, creating Civil-War style battles.

Also, I get a rush when I'm getting by pretty well in a war with an enemy civ, then suddenly I encounter 1 or 2 more civ's, then a massive world-war ensues. Mass carnage! Mass explosions! Mass smoke!

What are some of your proudest moments, "highs" or enjoyable aspects of RoN?

Interesting; I don't do the same but I like imposing similar constraints or goals on myself that are not essentially related to winning the game efficiently. There are probably others like us.

I get addicted when challenged. My friend and I had a huge standoff with muskateers where neither of us could conquer a city for a long time. I would produce muskateers, and when I almost had what I consider enough for an attack, he would attack, lose, but take out most of my force. Eventually, I had enough left over from the attack, and managed to capture a city of his. Once one fell, the rest became easy, but it was exhilirating. Ahhh, nothing like RoN on a LAN at 4AM.
