Excellent! I didn't think it would be possible to do it much faster than 4:45, but guess I was wrong. Where's the film?! And describe what happened to make it that much faster. (You go with 3 HI? He only have one town?)

Oh yeah...4 minute mile? How far can we take this? I followed your lead and used Japan against Greece. Play on Ausie outback to shorten the field. Get a center start with 5 wood slots. Send scout to enemy capital, Military 1, 3 civs, farm, Barracks, woods, 2 civs, woods, farm, and the last civ joins woods after barracks. Pump HI as fast as resources allow. Waypoint them to the left and right of scouts path so they ID ruins. Send later HI to collect ruins on their way to attack which may allow uninterrupted troop creation. Japans HI is strong enough to take down cities with 3 HI. I think I used 2 HI to capital, 3rd HI to city 2, 4th HI to capital, and then set the barracks to city 2. I kept the barracks screen open so I could add HI the second my resources allowed.

Uhhh...I'm not at the computer I played the game on so I can't post the game... but I can post "Son of Wonder Crunch" described above. I see lots of room for improvement in that game since I didn't even get to 7 farms! This was not the first time I played this map but I did try to play in my normal fashion and succeeded with all but getting the silver. Just couldn't resist sending my scout for it.

If anybody wants to post I'd be interested in knowing how fast different strats are takin down the AI without rushing.

        Don't bother posting...

        4:00 flat

P.S. I upgraded to 1.02 on this machine so replays should work properly now.

              Daaaammmmm, foo!

              Okay... UNCLE!

Now, you should try to see how many AIs you can beat teamed together. I got two - you need to get THREE!

Threeeee? You're probably gonna remain the master on that one O4B. But do tell me how your non rush games have been going. Do you beat the AI early after starting with boom rather than rush. Nobody's posting times on that stuff and I don't know if an 18:12 Medieval win is slow, fast or what.

Well, if you don't rush the AI, he tends to get a nasty lead in reosurces, and I usually end up winning in the info age, although some games have won earlier. BUt I wasn't aiming for speed.

                    O4B

Finding strategies to beat the toughest AI quickly is what I'm doing to keep the game fresh. I know that Wonder Crunch II gets me a medieval win. So what else? The Russian "horde of spies" also speeds things up. I found that if I rushed a fort in my battle city and pumped spies that I could take over medieval and gunpowder armies, i.e., 10 to 12 units at a crack. Often generals and guns just mill about after enemy troops are bribed and you can take them over when craft recovers. If you drop a barracks and siege factory you can round out your invasion force rather early and a screen of 12 spies is devastating. I've been much too timid with this as yet but I'll bet this would work well with your aggressive style of play. I'm getting capital wins with this in early industrial now but I think that a win as early as gunpowder is distinctly possible. I'm about done with Ancient rushing for now and I think I'll try working with Halflotuses Roman rush as I'm installing patch 3 as soon as I press submit. I'll be looking forward to hearing what you’re working on.

                    Cheers

                        Then I did this...

7 teamed toughest AIs, normal speed, no pausing

But this is a loss. I did take out 5 of them though. I was doing pretty well, but got bogged down, then overtaken by two of them, so I quit.

My home computer is only 450, so at normal speed it gets SO laggy, I cannot even click on units, so it was going to be a lost cause.

The next game I did much better, and was hacking at the last capital when wifey came home - had to emergency eject (so no record).

                          ROFL...you amaze me.

You might consider doin the Beta as the post it notes said no lookin back without reprising the directory, i.e., I can't play your recorded games with the Beta being the installed exe.

Played on warring states map (arena size).

The capitals are all tucked in together, so you rush the nearest capital as quickly as possible and get the sack bonus, and then proceed on from there. Sack bonuses keep you swimming in resources. I drop a second barracks and start library upgrades.

You can get 3-4 of them before any ofthem will have military. Then it can get dicey.
