I can go to Gamp Spy from in game, and can play games over there just fine but..

I just can't seem to host a game. I have tried with/without my firewall enabled.

I'm using a ethernet connection to an ADSL modem on windows XP. Does anybody know what settings I need to host?
If it ain't broke, find a bigger hammer.

Need more info on your modem. Many ISPs are issuing a modem with a built in NAT which make them single port routers. As far as I know you can't host on a router cause Gamespy software does not support port forwarding for the host. You may be able to turn off the NAT function, but that leaves you vulnerable to net nasties.
