I'm getting RoN on sunday and was just wondering if there is something like a GL thread on this forum with all basic info.

Dont have time to read through 500+ threads

    It was vetoed

In general, Solver made an excellent interface info thread. The tutorials in the game teach you anything (at least I found them helpful).

    Some general RON tips:
A good research tree is sci 1 > civics 1 > economy 1 (you can switch the last two).

Don't be afraid do lag behind the AI in age reasearch as long as you are ahead in other techs.

Build a second (then third) city early. Make sure their radii cover the reasources in good spots, so you can build mills, smelters, and granaries to boost your production.

Pausing the game is a good thing! (in sp, that is).

You don't need to build a barracks ASAP. In the beginning, Build a tower to cover a choke point and/or your most outward city. Research the 'attrition' technologies. That with a couple of bowmen/heavy infantry types should be enough for a while.

Build calvary to flank you enemy and destroy siege weapons, generals, and supply wagons. No supply wagons = added damage to the enemy. Also, throw in some scouts to detect spies, because the AI makes good use of them (starting on modearte, iirc).

The Rise Of Nations Official Strategies & Secrets book (published by Sybex, $19.99 US) is highly recommended by myself, as well as several others.
