  • Flanking move.....

How to do it anyone??? cause whenever i try to attack the back line (usually archers/range/siege unit) they seems to notice and quickly turn against mine....will i get the back attack bonus this way or is it considered another front to front attack? usually i use a diversionary group to attack the front and bigger main group to flank...any idea guys????

Well, if they turn to face your flank attack, then they are turning their flank to what was in front of them, aren't they?

Both of your forces must have credible firepower or it won't work.

Hitting the flank derives a 100% bonus; the rear only a 50% bonus.

When being hit BY a flank attack (rare in a solo game), rotate a PORTION of your line to face it, but preferably do it with reserves.

Yeah. Just take some heavy cavalry in a pre-Industrial battle and go for their archers/slingers/javlin/musketeers while their heavy infantry is busy fighting your main battle line. Works like a charm. However, after that flank gets a little harder.

It'd be cool if there was a 'flank' key. Then you could use it in combination with the 'forward' key and 'seige attack' mode and have your armies fight by themselves. Also, a 'do-stuff-that-will-make-me-win' key would be useful...

So if two armys are at each other and you rush the side
and the enemys units turn around to attack is this still a flank? If not think about this the enemys turned around to attack you, but the front army is attcking their flank now so either way they turn they are flanked does this sound correct.

                Correct.

The WRONG way to do it would be to have so few troops facing them so they can turn to your flanking maneuver without taking flanking fire from your original line.

When your enemy is kept busy with the frontal attack, you could use your general to create an ambush with reserved troops and mount an attack from the flank . That way your enemy troops won't detect the attack until youl hit them.

Is there any kind of a cumulative bonus for attacking both flanks at once? Or for surrounding the other army?

You have to sneak up by attacking the front and overhelming them so you have time to get a stab in the back. I have already figured it out playing the two computers players at once. It is a pretty good move the army dies fast. Remember make them attack your front troops then hit them in the back, and even if the attack the back ones your frontal force will turn into a rear force.

Better attack their flank I think...cause the bonus is higher...usually on the defensive I do this often....I entrench the front force facing enemy supply line... and the other force is doing ambush...love to entrech between hills/ ridge/ ...you get the idea

yup.....once I've hold three consecutive attacking armies consists of 7-8 armour/tank, general and 4-5 infantry each with only entrenched force of 4 infantry, 4 anti tank and 2m/guns....maaann, i love generals. My flanking force is of tanks and anti tanks. I noticed that they will attack the first fort that you build and this is my bait
