Apologies if this has been reported earlier. I couldn't find a mention of it, however, so I thought I'd pass along the news.
First I have to say that I haven't bought RoN, because I'm generally not a fan of RTS, but I am a fan of Brian Reynolds, based mainly on his design work in SMAC and Civ2. And with a dial-up connection, I didn't want to download the demo. So, I've been patiently waiting for the demo to appear in a magazine.
Well, it's here.
The August 2003 issue of PC Gamer is accompanied by a CD with the demo, and it also has two articles. One is a review of the game, giving a rating of 93% and commenting, "This Big Huge Game is a new highwater mark in RTS gaming." The other article is a four-page guide containing tips and cheats from "RoN's star developers," although I didn't find any credits.
