  • Unit graphics editor

I just got RoN and I'm wonering two things:

    1) Is it possible to edit the graphics of Units without crashing the game?

    2) If it is, whats the best program I have PSP 7.0.

Thanks! Just wanted to see if anyone else has tried before jacking up my game.

You can pretty safely edit the .tga files for the units since they are just skins that the models use. Just remember to backup stuff you edit and you'll be fine
Time to take out the trash. You know its easy but it seems harder every time you try and think about it.

I'll poke around thanks. I dont think there is a way to add units (yet) but I was looking for a way to add some civ3 units.

Daleran found a way to modify existing an existing units strengths and weaknesses. He made the Inca's into a US civ here.

It's called 3d studio max and you should consider yourself priveledged to own a copy.

I would imagine more functional unit skins will eventually emerge so that players can use tactics more easily... right now it is almost impossible to tell apart fusiliers and musketeers (except for the brits with their kilted highlanders ). I would love to see skins that look dramatically different, right now spies are not used if your enemy has a scout or two because the scouts are so hard to see, but I could imagine an attack with ranged calvalry on an enemy's scouts followed by a massive wave of spies to bribe all of his slow units.

Won't we be able to use gmax (the free version of studio max) to mod this game?

I dont know it SHOULD work, assuming gmax is a subset of 3dsmax.

I know other games have been deliberately designed so that you can GMax to mod the game (for example, Dungeon Siege).

I can't see any reason that RON would be different - let's face it, it'd be mad to make a game moddable, but also make it so you need a $3,500 tool to do so.
