You can ally in mid game with a civ that has a close close capital that looks like it will be one of the last 2. Then when its just you and them, you dont have to take so much out.

I like the idea of instead of losing your entire empire, you just lose the special abilities if you lose the capital. Either that or, like in Civ, where there's a chance that the nation is devided into factions.
You tried and you failed. The lesson is, never try.

Ally'ing.... I don't like the sounds of that
As of yet, I haven't really used much diplomacy in CTW besides buying territorys... which is far to easy/cheap I think.

but yes you are right about I could of allied with someone, but just using that as a example, it would still be nice to attack across the ocean without those lines.

And does the complete absense of a National Navy confuse anyone?
I mean, you can make navies in the game and all, but you should be able to make and deploy naval ships on the turn based map. I got a idea how it could work with resource gathering, and a extended idea of national borders, but I suppose that will have to wait for another day.
If you can't Dazzle them with Brilliance, Baffle them with Bull****.

Are we talking about the Capital as in a single battle, or on the main CTW map?
To us, it is the BEAST.

Well, I was thinking specifically about CTW, but in single battles it would be cool, too.

It's as lame as Risk. I love CTW, because it's just what I always wished I could do playing Risk as a kid.

                (Risk doesn't have navies either

ADG, I'm in a local RISK league... I play everyother weekend with 4 or 5 other people. Nice games. Sometimes classical, sometimes house-rules. I'm always up for some RISK... i dunno how we could play, but i'f you find a way, tell me.

I to love CTW, cause I always wished that instead of 'rolling the dice', I could load up a RTS or something.

In fact, we did this with Age of Kings few years back. (used a RISK board made from MS Paint over the net.) Whenever there wa a battle, you would load up AoK and battle it out. Was pretty tedious though. We eventually used other RTS, like Sudden Strike, and Midieval Total War.

The ages do go by very quickly, thanks Poogas for that little bit of editing info.. I'll have to try it out with like 10 turn ages.

A delightful short sci-fi story I haven't read in quite some time. What was the book title & author?

I wish, but there's no way I can get to USA... at least for the next couple of years

But I believe you'd find a game with me, kinda boring, since I haven't played this game against another human player, since I was about 6-8 years old...

I have played it on the computer a little, but it's not that fun, so I don't play that often...

Most Twilight Zone episodes were based on short stories ...
I don't recall the "Mr. Chambers" bit, so it might well have been from the TZ.

In the book, the aliens were pigs (i.e., at least their heads looked like pigs).
